Are the activity zones back in AP2? I remember seeing something about the feature disabled a while back.

Thanks.

Thanks.  You might find the attached interesting.  It's a screen shot from an Axis M1065-L camera, creating a rule that will record video when there is a pixel-based motion detection (VMD4), and PIR detection, and an audio detection.  There are many other conditions that can be included in these rules as well.

Q vs. original/P1/P2 wireless cameras. I like the Q detection and zones best.

What about video quality, AP2 vs Q (both with 1080 hd)? Is AP2 noticeably better than AP1?

Ok. Thanks.  I have no experience with the Q or P1. I do have eperience with purely pixel-based motion detection on Ubiquity, Trivision, Axis, and with PlotWatcher and with Synology surveillance station software.  Axis works the best, but all of them are very false alarm prone compared to PIR.  If it rains or snows, or if you have flying bugs at night, you will likely get hundreds of detections per day.  The P2s with just PIR do much better than that.

It's better since there's more pixels to work with (2MP vs. <1MP) but not by leaps and bounds in my estimation. If you're after the chance to catch details, the P2 should work better but you're still limited by the comprssion used in all of the cameras.

Can you use Activity Zones if you are connected to the solar accessory?

Unfortunately no

I went through this thread and it seems like the Pro 2, with motion zones, is still limited by PIR. I tested it on an area that I need motion detection and it seems to fail because the area I want monitored is too far. Does anyone know the specs for the PIR range? It seems like I would need pixel-dection but unfortunately the Q is not usable outdoors.

The spec says up to 23 feet for PIR. This depends upon the object though. Cars are detected at a greater distance.

Probably better to move the camera closer to the object and run off battery or solar.
