I’m not able to activate my activity zones.. & have an error message that reads “AC power has been disconnected from your device.. Activity Zones are currently disabled. Is the only way to activate activity zones by hardwiring these devices?

GG5,
For activity zones, you will need to be plugged in to AC Power or have a smart subscription for battery operated Activity Zones.

The new update killed the user experience. First. the AC errors and I pay for Premiere. Second, you have moved the wifi and battery level icons two taps deep...so instead of scrolled through the cameras to see the status, I have to tap twice PER camera to see this info. The question is: did anyone who actually uses this system participate in the beta testing (assuming there was beta testing). Escalate this, please. Embarassing. Glad I'm paying for nothing. This is worse than the decision to change to New Coke. Roll back to the prior version,

This is an old thread. Some details are needed since firmware and app versions have changed since then.

I am still having the same issue Activity Zones are not working. I do not see a reason why I have to have the subscription or AC power connected for Activity Zones to work. They used to work but now stopped working. Does anyone have a workaround? I have pro 2 cameras. This thread may be old, my version is up to date, the same problem persists.

That's because of how zones work. Having the camera AC-powered allows the camera to stream the whole time which would deplete the battery quickly. Your other choice is Smart, the paid subscription, which uses server post-processing to process the video to determine whether motion was in the zone and by what type of subject.
You may have been in the trial for Smart in the past.

I have just started getting this error. I have my camera mounted on a gutter accessible only by ladder and have an Arlo solar panel charging it, yet, I'm not able to configure my activity zones. I've recenlty had a car break in and need to adjust the activity zone. how do you adjust a freakin activity zone if you've got to bring it inside and hook it to a d@mn wire? I certainly can't run a power cord all the way up to the roof and hook it up. How dumb Arlo!!!

I have recently cancelled the cloud storage. $9.99 for what you get is not a good value in my opinion. Without being able to configure activity zones, the Arlo is not a good choice for security cameras.
Well, you need the smart subscription for the camera in order to be able to use activity zones when you are running the camera on batteries.
With that subscription you should be able to configure activity zones, and shouldn't be seeing the AC power warning. At least that's the case with my own cameras.
One difference is that when you are AC powered the camera itself checks the activity zones. When you are battery powered, the video is streamed to the cloud and the check is done that. So the cloud activity zones will reduce the number of recordings, but won't improve the battery life.

I am also seeing this error message. The camera is fully charged, and there is no reason why the activity zones were disabled. The cameras no longer detect motion or record video. What happened?

I see your post is a few years old and you had a few responses, what did you do to fix this. The base, cameras and phone app are all up to date.
Thank you for your time.

The solar panel isn't the same as "AC Power", and it's not enough to get you local (camera hosted) activity zones.
You would therefore need a paid subscription (so you can use cloud activity zones). Do you have one?
