Hello my current cameras Arlo Pro VMC4030 are at end of life and no longer connect to the base unit.

 

Do the Essential cameras come with recordings that are saved for 1 week without a subscription? Will the Essential cameras work with my existing base unit VMB4000, Arlo Pro Base Station?

First, EOLed cameras still work fine and will continue to do so for the foreseeable future. Something else is going on, perhaps dead batteries. Have you rebooted the base? What do the LEDs show? If you insert a camera battery, what does the LED show? It should briefly blink blue indicating power, followed by a pause and then either blue or amber flashing. It's possible the base has died but if all else fails, remove all devices from your account, hold the base reset button until the LEDs flash amber and let the base reboot to green power and Internet LEDs and the Camera LED being either off or solid amber. Set the system back up again as if new, claiming the base first and then the cameras.

 

Any camera newer than the Pro 2 requires a subscription for cloud recordings. Thus, the Essential cameras do not have the old free 7 day plan but will come with a trial sub. When that expires, you will need to subscribe for future cloud recordings. And, yes, they will work when connected to either your WiFi or your existing base station.
