I have the Arlo essential XL outdoor camera, we have taken it down today to charge it and now it’s only taking snapshots. I’ve gone through everything and can’t see what I’m doing wrong. Any help would be much appreciated.

Check your modes and rules for the camera to make sure they tell the camera to make a recording when triggered. You can find more information about this here: https://kb.arlo.com/000062777/About-Arlo-Routines-Modes-Rules-and-Automations
