I work from home due to my wife being disabled/dementia. There are times where I don't have an assistant in the house and need to monitor what she's doing. However, the privacy shield closes every 30 minutes. I would like to know if there is a way to keep the shield from closing for a longer period so that I can just have a live monitor up as needed.

Live streaming is required to view the camera live, so the Shield will remain open during live streaming and closed when not in use. Regardless of a timer, the shield will remain closed and the camera is not viewable unless the device is activated by the user or applicable rules.

Hi @Mark-L
Arlo devices stop streaming after 30 minutes of continuous use. You might be interested in the CVR capabilities of some of the Arlo devices, you can find that list below. If CVR becomes available for your Essential indoor 2nd Gen camera, we will post an announcement of it's availability here on the community.

Thank you for the reply, but I'm really not interested in the CVR recording feature. Just the video monitoring itself. I understand the desire to close the privacy screen as a precaution. Perhaps make the setting adjustable. 1/2-hour, 2-hours, 4-hours, or something similar.

Unlikely that they'll introduce this feature for extended viewing without privacy shield shutting. However, you never know.
If you're looking for a 24/7 camera, you might want to check out Amcrest that might meet your expectations. Not sure in terms of privacy, but it'd be your call. Their app is Amcrest View Pro.

Just to amplify this - if you restart the livestream, then the privacy shield should re-open.
