Will the new devices announced at CES2019 be able to be paired with Smartthings, as I assume the Pro hub will not support them.

Yep i doubt SmartThings will be supported especially when there have been issues with ST for over 2 months which are only now being addressed, probably because all the Devs were busy delivering these new shiny toys for CES2019.

The new security system and kit is really designed to replace SmartThings, Maybe a future Arlo app release may be able to integrate SmartThings sensors?

No mention of SmartThings in the following though

I personally have had no issues with Arlo and Smartthings, my integration has been mostly flawless.  However I have over 50 devices in Smartthings, such as light switches, sensors, etc, as well as Ecobee, Nest, Rachio and other products.

A second question is will Arlo allow anywhere near the customization of Smartthings, which I doubt.

I agree i doubt the Arlo app will have as much customizations compared to SmartThings.
To be fair i do like SmartThings and only have had problems recently where Arlo recordings were not working but now they are although all is only fine on SmartThings classic. SmartThings new which everyone will have to migrate to eventually does not give me the ability to configure recordings for any of my Arlo cameras!
