Since Nov 22, 2018,  IFTTT has stopped working with a trigger designed to record a 10 second video every hour, tried setting up with Stringify today and getting the same generic error that video can not be recorded.

Recording video via the Arlo Web Portal still works.

Thank you for posting @webdude12.  I hope others having trouble getting IFTTT and or Stringify to record will also post that they are having an issue.

I had IFTTT working beautifully from August-Sept up until 2 weeks ago when it stopped working.  It was when about the same time the updated ARLO app for iOS 2.6.3 was released.  I have carefully followed the instructions to unlink the accounts and delete and recreate applets and have even taken down and reset all my cameras but no luck.

Please see my response to your post in my thread here: https://community.arlo.com/t5/Partner-Integrations/IFTTT-record-every-hour-applet-not-working/m-p/16...

Thank you!

Have you contacted Customer Support regarding this issue? do you happen to have a case number you can provide over PM? I have attached the Support link for you here - Arlo Tech Support

No I have not.  It seems others are having the exact same issue though.  I will open a support ticket now.

I can not get your live chat to work with either Chrome or Firefox in OSX.  And when I try to call the support number I get disconnected after pressing 1 for tech support.  Tell me another way to reach out to support and I will gladly do so.  But as others are reporting the exact same issue, it appears there is a problem.

How did you connect with Stringify? Arlo isn’t listed under there things to add section in the app.

Having the same problems.  I have Arlo Pro 2 and both IFTTT and Stringify ceased working.  Previoulsy it worked flawlessly.  Now I get the message "There was a Problem with the Arlo Service" or " Action skipped after 5 Action errors".  I have it set to record a video every day at three preset times.  It lasted worked 11/20/18.  I have tried all of the fixes listed, none have worked.

Glad to see others having the exact same issue from the exact same time frame.  Hopefully Arlo fixes this soon.

And as far Stringify the option is there, you need to dig a little deeper if you are not seeing it.

Thank you, to clarify, I was using IFTTT every day as mentioned.  Once it ceased operating, I tried all of the fixes on line listed and experimented with other applets and none worked.  I then went to Stringify, I have tried multiple recipes there and none are working.  I have also tried all of the different suggestions there and have not been able to get any of them to work.  I never tried Stringify until I sought it for a solution to continue recording as I did with IFTTT so I can not say anything about how it worked before the problems with IFTTT started on 11/20/18.

As a side note, IFTTT and Arlo were very helpful to myself and all of my neighbors when Hurricane Florence came through the Carolinas. We live on the water and we had to evacuate. I was able to set my cameras to record the progression of the storm using IFTTT.  I could then share the conditions at our homes during the storm to all of our neighbors.  It provided all of us with a tremendous Peace of Mind knowing what was happening at our homes.  Arlo, please fix IFTTT.

@SkinnyJeans - thank you for adding the date when your system stopped working.  I checked and IFTTT Record Every Hour stopped working for me on 11/21 - though I start seeing many more errors in the IFTTT Activity log from 11/19.

I hope they restore the service soon.

Taking advice from a thread I read in this forum, as a way to make better use of the indoor cameras that face out through windows, within the Arlo app, I created an Armed Away mode with increased motion and audio sensitivity.  Also when the outdoor cameras detects motion, they also trigger the indoor cameras to record. This is not the same as hourly recording but it makes better use of my system and produces more frequent recordings.

I also created a Stay Mode without the audio detection on the indoor cameras.

I really do hope we get IFTTT recording going again soon.  If you do a search you'll see that the IFTTT service was down for months a year or more ago.  If Arlo can't fix it, they should advertise IFTTT as only with limited functionality and not give the impression that you can use other devices to trigger recording via IFTTT.

all my best, Steph

I believe whatever change were made on Arlo's side affected IFTTT and SmartThinigs.

I bet once it has been corrected, both IFTTT and SmartThings will start working properly again.

@RobertRosal - yes I agree - it seems the issue is asking the Arlo to record whether it is via Smart Things or Time Date trigger.  I saw your post on this in this thread started by @mike_pace.

I think it is important for the Arlo tech team to see how many users are not able to trigger the cameras to record via IFTTT.

I have contacted Arlo Tech support on this and have a case number but have not heard back from them.  I will call to follow up with them in the next day or so.  Dealing with the phone tech team has been a mixed bag for me from most helpful to rudeness or evasive.  It is too bad they are not more responsive and helpful.  Often you can tell they are just reading a script and not listening at all.

I saw in a post another user wrote that he could not bare to contact customer support again after what he had experienced.  I am feeling the same way at this point.  This is no fun.

I also have a case number from Arlo support, but getting no where with them.  The more people that respond to this post, will hopefully help Arlo realize this option is broken.

The issue we have with using the alarmed option is we are covering a very large area and the motion detector does not always pick up movement even at the highest level.  We were recording a 10 second video every 30 minutes using two different IFTTT triggers.  This allowed us to monitor the area at a level we were comfortable with.   Other cameras where motion detector can pickup movement would be able to be matched up as needed.

That's a similar idea to what we do to monitor an area of our pier and boats. Motion detection does not work for that application, but regular recordings scheduled by IFTTT allow us to keep it monitored.

Arlo and IFTTT continue to not work.  Ongoing issue now for over a month.  James C, are you seeing this thread?

Still, no update on this and can not get any type of answer out of support to even acknowledge they have even looked into the issue.  It's a shame when you pay for a service that is supposed to include support and the only answer you get back is "Someone will contact you soon"

I am in the same situation as you.  I was hoping by now it would be all straightened out.  most frustrating!

Happy Healthy New Year to all from this diappointed Arlo user!

Agreed.  Two days ago, I got an email from IFTT that said the following:

"Your Applet has been turned off. The Applet may need to be updated or the services it uses may need to be reconnected. For more information, view your Applet's logs"

So, I went into my account at IFTT and deleted everything, reregistered Arlo and set it all back up.  Still does not work.  JamesC Arlo Community Manager, are you following this thread?  We could use some help.

I have had the same issue affecting my Pro, Pro 2, Q and Q Plus cameras resulting in recording errors on Stringify, IFTTT, Alexa and SmartThings.
Arlo please resolve this ASAP.

Please report if you have a SmartPlan subscription and are having the Arlo Service in IFTTT to record failing.  I am wondering if having the subscription or not having it makes a difference.  thanks.

I have a SmartPlan subscription and cannot get the Arlo Service to record via IFTTT.  Other IFTTT ARLO Services, such as notifications, are working.

Yesterdays Arlo app update fixed a few issues:

- I can now stream Arlo cameras via the SmartThings classic and SmartThings new app.

- I can record with my Arlo cameras via Smart Home Monitor and custom automations through the SmartThings classic app but not the SmartThings new app which still does not give me the option to record but just switch a camera on/off.

- Arlo recordings via IFTTT still fails

- Yes i do have a Smart Premier subscription

- Haven't had ime to test Stringify/Alexa yet.

I can confirm that the latest app updates have not fixed issues with IFTTT.  Stringify may be working.  Request to record a video at sunrise just triggered.
