On the basic/free plan, any recordings remain available for 7 days. On the 8th day, the oldest day's videos are automatically deleted so be sure to download any you want to keep.
Not sure exactly what you want as to the recording issue. If the running men in the Cameras tab are black, not gray, the cameras are active and will record. By default, the Armed mode is turned on. It's worth going to the Mode tab, clcik on your system, and then check out the Armed mode to understand how things are set up. Then create your own mode(s) to set up how you want things to work. Note that you can only set up one camera when creating the mode but reedit it and you can set up the others, one at a time. Be sure to save as you go.
