If you are going on vacation for a week, what can you expect? Are there any best practices in this scenario? Thanks.

It's not a problem since you can't do this. 30 minutes is all you'll get and you have to start each session manually. If you managed to do this I'd guess battery life would be a couple of days at best.

The recently announced Q is a plugged in device so would be more suitable when it becomes available.

If the cameras function normally before you leave home ( not a lot of false triggers, etc ) there is no problem with leaving the system in MOTION DETECT mode for the entire week...that's one of the normal modes

I've done it for over 2 week without issue. Battery drain is a little higher than "sleep" mode of course but if the batteries are in good conditon before leaving there should be no problem. I add the date to the end on my camera name ( exp;  OUTSIDE 1, 10-21 ) so I know quickly how old the batteries are..., and if going away , since I get 4 months, I change them if close to the end date.

The biggest battery drain is in recording/ viewing so do only when needed.

have a good time
