WHAT HAPPENS TO THE ALL THE FEATURES ONCE YOU GO TO THE BASE SUBSCRIPTION?

I Just purchased Arlo 4 camera kit for home surellience & sercurity but who wants to pay a monthly service to be able to SEE the recordings.  Wow, that's the whole purpose of buying cameras to begin with, so you can view everything that's going on in your home while you are away. That's why comsumers pay the steep price for them. I like many others, am very concerned that the system is not going to be any good after the cloud storage stops an   from what I have reviewed here, I will loose some of the cameras system features.  I am So confused.  I have online storage with my cloud email, google email, and other places for my pictures and iphone recordings so I definately will not be paying for a storage service for these.  The base plan is all I will be keeping.  PLEASE ADVISE ME ON WHAT HAPPENS to the storage, sceduler, alerts, recordings, and ALL ONCE IT GOES TO THE NORMAL FREE BASE PLAN.      

 

I am considering taking this system back and getting my $550.00 back. I really wanted to buy the Homeboy cameras but they will take 4 months til they ship out again.  Arlo was in the RETAIL stores, homeboy is by special order only, but the Homeboy lets the buyer be in the drivers seat with all of the features and their storage and the cameras have the same features  arlo has.

As can be expected when any new technology first gets off the ground, Arlo has experienced a few hiccups earlier this week, notably several cloud service outages that may have affected your service.

 

We want to thank everyone in the Arlo community for your patience as we iron out these kinks. And we want you to know that the entire Arlo team has set the coffee maker to “overdrive” and is working 24/7 to prevent future issues and make your Arlo experience a great one. That includes:

 

  • Adding more robust cloud monitoring
  • Providing live Arlo cloud status
  • Resolving battery reporting issues some of you have noted
  • Fixing the low memory bug on Android systems.

 

We’ve also been collecting lots of terrific feedback from everyone on these and other things, and have some exciting new changes to announce as a result:

 

  • First, the Sharing/Friend feature will no longer be a Premium feature but will be included with Arlo’s Basic Service
  • Secondly, the Scheduler automation feature once offered only to Premium subscribers, will now be available to everyone as part of each Basic Service Plan.

 

These extras are coming soon and we will update you as soon as they are in place. In the meantime, please accept our humble apologies for any issues you’ve experienced since Arlo launched at the start of the year. You have our thanks for your understanding and, more importantly, for all the feedback we have received. We couldn’t make Arlo the world’s best Smart Home Security System without it and want you all to know that every single one is greatly appreciated. Thanks again, one and all!

THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR REPLYING.  I UNDERSTAND THE PRODUCT IS NEW AND THEIR WILL BE ISSUES, HOWEVER, YOU STILL HAVE NOT ANSWERED MY QUESTIONS.  I HAVE BASE PLAN NOW AND I THE RULES AND MODES DO NOT WORK, THERE IS NO WAY IN THE APP I HAVE THAT ALLOWS ME TO APPLY THE RULES AND THEREFORE, EVEN THE MODES AND RULES THAT ARE ALREADY SET UP WHEN YOU BUY THE SYSTEM DO NOT WORK.  I AM RECEVING 600 TO 782 MESSAGES VIA MY IPHONE/EMAIL A DAY AND THEY WILL NOT CUT OFF.  I HAVE SCHEDULE SET UP BUT THE CAMERAS IGNORE IT AND I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO BUT RETURN THE PRODUCT.  IF I KNEW THIS WAS HAPPENING DUE TO NOT HAVING A PAID SUBSCRIPTION I COULD MAKE THE DECISION ON POSSIBLY GOING WITH A SUBSCRIPTION BUT I DON'T KNOW THAT!!! THAT IS WHY I HAVE ASKED THE QUESTIONS TO BEING WITH.  I FEEL LIKE THE REPLY IS AN AUTOMATED REPLY AND NOT BY A REAL PERSON TRYING TO RESOLVE THE ISSUES MYSELF AND OTHERS ARE HAVING.

First off, the people who are roaming in this forum are mostly customers like you and me. Only if it says NETGEAR beneath a user's name and Avatar did you get a response from a NETGEAR employee. So far, it looks like you haven't received an official response from NETGEAR yet. Second, it is typically bad netiquette to use BLOCK CAPITALS in your correspondence, as it's considered screaming. So unless you have a good reason to write in block capitals, it would be appreciated if you could tone it down. Third, you can get offical (and individualized) support directly from Netgear via email, chat and phone. Go to http://www.arlo.com/en-us/support/contact.aspx to find out how.

 

Now, on to your questions/problems.

If you have the default schedule activated and not changed any of the rules or modes, then you have a mode active at any given time. It could be that the default motion detection sensitivity setting for your cameras is set too high for your set up, which could explain the multiple motion events that have been triggered and your receiving email notifications for each of them.

 

The first thing you should do, is turn your schedule off and activate the default "All cameras off" mode. That will deactivate your system completely and should stop the notifications.

 

Then, I'd suggest you read my explanation on how to set up rules, modes and schedules in the thread Different Schedules on Different Cameras?. Please study the example given carefully and ty to set up rules, modes and activate the schedule for one or two cameras as described. If you're still having problems after that, come back and we'll be trying to assist with your issues.

Thank you so much!! The capital letters were not intended to be loud or rude. i did not realize their was a texting ediquette.  when i write notes and etc. I use caps. i see them better, and they were obviously on so, i thank you for letting me know this as I have never texted in a community before. i did not really know if the reply was computerized or real or ....  I do not engage in conversasion online, so anyway.  I will take this knowledge forward with me.  Thanks for directing me on where to start.  the rules and system in general has been very confusing to me.  i hope to understand it better so that i feel comfortable with my purchase.  it is hard to see flexibility within a system one doesn't understand well!  thank you for your input.
