Many things...

Was the motion detect activated?

Was the mode on a schedule?

Was the base online at the time?

Are the sense levels to low?

If all are good, you have to 1) lessen the area your shooting at, 2) try to make the subject cross the FOV, 3) adjust the sense level higher
