We got one of the single cameras for my 85 year old mother who lives on a farm. My brother and nephews are constantly coming and going during the day but the camera just doesn't seem to detect them everytime. It might detect & record them arriving but not leaving and vice versa.

The camera is mounted high in the corner of her porch angled so it shoots across her front door/porch toward her yard. We wanted to be alerted of anyone coming and going and when it works it captures an excellent picture. We have it aimed just right to capture anyone driving in her yard and walking up to the door... if it was only consistent. Sometimes we get someone arriving and sometimes just when leaving.

The sensitivity is set at 80%.

So why does it detect sometimes and not others?

The biggest problem I see with cam out side is 1) users try to cover to much area ... Range for good detect is about 20+ft ,imo. 2) motion detect is better across field of view than straight on.

As to the settings at 80%.... There's a bit more adjustment to go up, but only do a small amount ( and only change one thing) at a time so u know if it's working. I have never had my outside cams over 92% to get them to work well...it is trial and error in small steps.

Yes it does shoot across her porch not straight on.

Guess I can try gradually increasing the sensitivity.

Post a screenshot of the current view and indicate where motion should be detected.

I can do that the next time I'm out to the farm.
