On my ipad all I get is landscape mode with the Arlo app. This is annoying. Is it an option or an unwanted feature?

You can add that to the unwanted feature list. Both landscape and portrait still appear to work on iPhone.

Same here, on Ipad v3 and IOS 9.2 ONLY landscape mode as default ...it over rides the rotation lock

The iPad version of the iOS app is locked to landscape mode by design. I encourage you to visit and post any ideas surrounding this topic in the Arlo Idea Exchange.
Thank you,

The iPad iOS app screen orientation is now available in both Portrait and Landscape modes via the most recent 2.0.3 app update. See the full release notes here: Release Notes – iOS App 2.0.3 - 21st March, 2016

Hi James,
great thing with the reintegration of Landscape/Portrait mode in V2.0.3 - but it don't work on a iPad mini. In the past it worked (about three Versions earlier - I think). Actually on iPhones and V2.0.3 it works.
Please fix it as soon as possible.

Woodwatch,
Do you have screen rotation locked on your iPad?
Take a look at this apple article: If the screen doesn‘t rotate on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

Hej James,
of course not - all other apps will rotate ! Only on the iPad mini the arlo app doesn't rotate and get in portrait mode - on our other apple devices it works (iPad Air, iPhones). For your info - I'm a IT professional and work for many years with apple devices.
Please check this with the Netgear developers and clean the error as soon as possible
happy eastern

Woodwatch,
I was able to test this on an iPad mini 2 on both iOS version 9.2.1 and 9.3 and was not able to replicate any issues with rotation. What iPad mini model are you working with and what is the iOS version?
You might try a reinstall of the Arlo mobile app (if you haven't done so already).

Hej James,
I already installed the app new and made a reboot but without any changes. I use a iPad mini one with IOS 7.1.2 - all other devices have IOS 9.2.x installed. The iPad mini is for an another app and for my app devolopement testing still on IOS 7. I hope you can fix it, because this iPad mini is also our central house management device. I think the arlo app support for IOS 7 and above and a older version had already support the portrait mode on this unchanged device.
I hope you can help me - for ongoing failure analyse please contact me.
Thank you for you quick answer - it shines like a realtime suport 😉
Best regards

Woodwatch,
Due to the app behaving correctly on your other iOS devices running version 9.2.x, It seems the issue is due to the iPad mini being on iOS 7. Consider upgrading your device to the latest iOS version to ensure the Arlo mobile app behaves as designed.

Hej James,
this is not a solution that we imagine, because the iPad mini 1 is with a IOS higher than 7 extremly slowly and inacceptable using. It makes me very sad that a company like netgear can't create a better app software. There are a lot of other failures in design and performance - when I look to the price of the system it is inconceivably.
We must now contact amazon - to give the system back with the reason that it not deliver what the marketing promised. Sorry but only one big company produce acceptable apps and that is apple themselve.
We wouldn't be ongoing a paying beta tester.
We hope netgear arlo will place our requirement for IOS 7 in the next update - please remember your promise to support IOS7!
