How do you edit a mode? Here are a few screen shots of what I'm talking about... when I have selected "sidewalk":
(which by the way was the last mode I added) and then select "log in" (top right) it takes me to this:
Now if I "log out" of the screen above it takes me back to my list of modes, where I then select "store closed" which is a mode where one camera only is on just certain hours. However, after selecting "store closed" and then "log in", it just takes me back to the schedule for "sidewalk". When I'm on the list of modes (in screen shot 1) I find that if I select my "store closed" in "appears" that it is in that mode by way of which camer is "on/active when I click on my green camera icon at the bottom on the screen.
Additionally, when I hover over any of my 4 oval buttons shown above I get the "4way arrow" so's to drag and drop but just bullseyeing them won't bring that particular mode on screen.... This program is anything but user friendly if you ask me. So am I going to have to create a new mode w/the same info save for a slight change to edit "store closed"??? if so that sux.

First a couple thing to remember... ONLY ONE mode can run at a time, the MODE only sets what cameras are active or off, Rules control what the camera does.
A few notes...
edit modes are in SETTINGS/MODES/ pencil to edit same.
In SCHEDULE screen in order to change start/stop times set ( in screen clip you have the sidewalk on ALL the time)... drag/drop the OFF button to the upper portion of a day that sidewalk is on... this will give you an OFF TIME where now you can DRAG the bottom bar to change amount of time. ( or lower potion of sidewalk on if needed down there ) Once more than one mode is on the screen the top or bottom bars of each mode slide up/down.
You can also put the other mode into the schedule by drag/drop where needed.

Thanks for your response Tom... so here's my response/questions concerning your post:
"First a couple thing to remember... ONLY ONE mode can run at a time, the MODE only sets
what cameras are active or off, Rules control what the camera does."
me: That I understand completely.
______________________________________________________________________
" edit modes are in SETTINGS/MODES/ pencil to edit same."
me: When I go to: settings/modes/ and click a pencil for any of the 4 modes I have loaded, I just get/see the two cameras I have on my system, and can only chose to turn them (and their respective settings shown... record, camera and email icons) on or off. Their respective settings already loaded in "rules" (for said cameras). What am I missing?
_____________________________________________________________________
"In SCHEDULE screen in order to change start/stop times set ( in screen clip you have the sidewalk on ALL the time)..."
me: True, I configured "sidewalk" for always on.... but w/just one camera. did I do it wrong? I dragged and dropped the sidewalk button to program the mode.

Me: Right; I understand that completely but still, what if I want to edit a mode? from the schedule screen? How do you get one to come up? My schedule screen has on it, the last (sidewalk) mode I crafted. I want to know if/how to get "store closed" up as I configured it, so as to make changes w/o redoing the entire (7day) mode. It's sounding like in order to change say, my "store close" mode, I need to make/craft a "new" mode, and save it w/ the old/same name?

Nothing really, except all the Rules you have made will be in each Mode , the only option is to TOGGLE the green check at the rule line end for ACTIVE, black for OFF. The MODES only make the camera rule active or not
I understand that completely but still, what if I want to edit a mode? from the schedule screen?
You can not edit a MODE from the schedule screen, it must be done in settings. You can only drag/drop the modes already made onto the scheduled day.

I may not understand what your trying to do, if you want the 'sidewalk' cam on all the time, you don'y need the schedule
Lets go to the start and tell me how many cams you have ( 2 i think ) and exactly what your trying to do, maybe this will help;
Lets say you have two cams A - B, store open from 9am-5pm
A is on the sidewalk
B is in the store
You should have 4 modes, 1- all on , 2- all off , 3- sidewalk on, 4-store on
So you can set them ALL ON or one of the two , all off cancel them
You could manually set the MODE from the mode screen, or by the schedule
By schedule;
So you want the sidewalk on all the time, the store cam on only from 9-5
Drag / drop the SIDEWALK mode down to the first day at top
then drag/drop the ALL ON mode ( both sidewalk and store are active now) to the lower half of day
Adjust the start time for ALL ON to 9am by dragging top line of that mode ( in schedule )
Drag bottom line of mode to end time at 5pm
you end up with the sidewalk cam on from 1am to 9am, the both cams on from 901am to 5pm and only the sidewalk cam again starting at 501pm
Hopefully this helps put you in the right direction, if not I got a bit lost with what your trying to do...

Here is what I'm trying to do... (I have no idea how I'm not getting this!):
I want "store closed" (that's what I'm calling this mode), to have camera #1 on from 5:30pm - until 8:30am, 7 days a week; off/no recording from 8:31am to 5:29pm. as those are our normal hours of operation.
then I want "sidewalk" (a seperate mode), whereas camera #2 detects/records motion 24 hours/7days a week any time it's detected (when it is selected in/from the list under the mode icon at the bottom of the page.
___________________________________________________________________
Tom you wrote above in your instructions;
"then drag/drop the ALL ON mode ( both sidewalk and store are active now) to the lower half of day"
How can that be? if I haven't drag/dropped the "store closed" mode icon at the top of the scedule screen down onto the schedule somewhere?
and: "You can not edit a MODE from the schedule screen, it must be done in settings."
I think we're talking of two different things here, when I say I want to "edit a mode" I'm not talking about what the camera settings are or if they're armed or not, I'm talking about editing the time/day settings originally programed on the schedule screen for when the cameras included in the mode either record or are off.
I'm lost on this...

OK... like my example, but oposite... Mis understanding re edit a mode, you mean edit the scheduled time for mode.
You should have 4 modes still, ALL ON, ALL OFF, CLOSED, SIDEWALK, but you only need to use two.
Set up ALL ON for the first day of the week by dragging it down and dropping on the time area fot the entire time ( expand by dragging top/bottom bar of mode )
This will give you sidewalk cam 2 on ALL THE TIME but ALSO cam 1 on during the hours you need ( next step deletes the store cam when not needed)
Now once set, drag down MODE SIDEWALK cam2 and place over time slot of 831am to 529pm which will TURN OFF THE STORE CAM but leave SIDEWALK on as wanted
If you understand this Both will be on all the time, but then you edit schedule to only leave the sidewalk cam on when the store cam isn't needed. A new mode over writes the old and any cam not active in the new mode will be turned off.
Hope this helps

Thanks Tom... I've got it now.... I wonder if anyone else has had such a time using/programing a mode?
So in that vein, I would like to say that Arlo is taking a lot for granted on it's (modes) use.
The entire problem, for me at least, would have been an explanation of programing modes using the simple word "overight", because that's what threw me. I didn't intuitivly anticipate the fact that whatever I "covered/overwrote" w/a particular mode, was not errased as I dragged a mode to, then down to cover a bordered area on the schedule grid. In my mind, it seemed that I had errased what I'd just done. Now I see it's actually still there (on the schedule screen) UNDERNEATH what I dragged over it.
Yes, that was the whole problem. I think I'll make a vid of it's use and post it on youtube for other "problem challenged" people like me. We are all wired differently and do/see somethings better than others and for me, ususally, anything computer related is a chinch. Maybe this is a common way programers employ a schedule grid to certain projects but this is my first encounter w/ such. I had no idea it worked that way.
Thanks again Tom!
regards, mitch
