My understanding is that Arlo automatically records only when it detects MOTION -- and that's great. However, is it also true that I can view what Arlo sees at any time day or night (and optionally, can tell it to record anything*)?
*although I realize battery use and free archive space are at a premium

You can live stream an Arlo cam through any one of the systems ( IOS, Android, PC ) at any time.
To record while viewing, just click on the record button and it will do so.
The other choice is record when motion is detected by manually setting it or setting a schedule for motion
