Can I activate more than one cam at a time in a schedule?

Hello guys, question from Italy. I simply do not understand if Arlo allows for more than one cam to be scheduled on/off. I have six wirefree Arlo cams on one base station and I need to have two of them always on motion detect mode, and others on/of depending on time of the day. Am I missing something or the system only allows for scheduling one cam at a time? Thanks!

You're missing something.

You need to first define modes and in each a set of rules - one for each camera that is supposed to be on at a given time. Finally you schedule your modes depending on when they are supposed to be active.

So, let's say, you have cameras A and B that are supposed to be on motion detection all the time. Cameras C, D, E and F, however, are only supposed to be on motion detection at certain times.

So, you need to create two modes:

1. All cameras are on motion detection.
2. Only cameras A and B are on motion detection.

In mode #1, you will have six rules, one for each camera A through F. In mode #2 you will only have two rules, namely one for each of camera A and B.

Once you have set up the modes, you proceed to place each of the two modes on the schedule depending on when you want all cameras detecting motion (mode #1), and when just cameras A and B (mode #2).

Note, that for simplicity in the above example I am assuming that there is no more than one (motion detection) rule per camera, i.e. each rule is defined as "When detecting motion on camera X, record on camera X". You could also define more than one rule triggered by a motion event of the same camera, e.g. you could have camera A record on motion detection from camera A in one rule and camera B record on motion detection from camera A, too.

Once you place the modes on the schedule, you simply activate the schedule and there is nothing else to do for you. If at times, you wanted to deactivate all cameras, because you might be doing some yardwork around the house, you would manually change the active mode from Schedule to Disarm All. When done, you'd put it back on Schedule.

Sorry but I cant make it. If I create a new mode, only one cam can be put on motion detection mode. If I create two modes, one for cam A and one for cam B, then the schedule allows for one mode or the other at a specific time, not both together. Is there a trick to make it work? Something I dont understand. To myself it seems that it is either all cameras at a time, or just one.

You need to create more than one rule inside a mode, one for each camera that you want to be active during that mode's operation.

Ok now I got it. I save the mode with one rule, then reopen the mode and add another rule etc

Yes, that's it. But there is no need to close and reopen a mode for each rule you want to add to that mode. Simply press the “Add Rule“ button to add another rule. Just make sure to save each rule and lastly the mode when done with all rules.
