Can you create a different schedule for each mode?  I have 4 modes but can't figure out how to create, save and activate a the schedule for each created mode.

Edit your schedule and click the Add button at the top.  Select the mode you want to use and set the start and stop times. You can't wrap around past midnight - start at midnight and go to some time.  Perhaps using the same mode, start at a time and end at midnight.
