Notifications are fixed by editing your modes in the Mode tab.

B&W images are due to insufficient lighting. Use additional lighting or the system switches to B&W and uses the IR illuminators.

The B/W symptom you have been seeing is most likely from the update.

I have experienced something similar after the update and where the IR's would turn on and scene would go completely dark if there were not enough light.  Only fix that I know of is to remove the batteries and re-insert.  I don't believe you will need to purchase additional lights just to get your Arlo to work when it was working fine before.

Another one of good ole Netgear Arlo update problems.

Good luck!

Try calling them, maybe they will be able to help.

Sorry that removing the batteries and resetting didn't work.  I hope you find resolution.

What's the lighting situation where the cameras are?  Indoors?  Outdoors? While a camera reset may help, the ususal issue is insufficient light for color.  If you activate a camera are the IR illuminators on (would be a dim red glow around the lens)?  If so, it's the amount of light available that's causing the issue.

I'd have to respectfully agree and disagree.

I agree that normally what you stated would be the fact and true.

In my situation it was a definite problem.  The area where my camera was at had zero issues until that update and then the following occurred.  The camera which had the issue is outdoors and in a  location that when it gets dark. . . it is dark.  I noticed that my camera would go off but in reviewing, all I saw was blackness. So I tested and found the following.

The cameras were working as when I took along a flashlight I can see when reviewing the footage, the flashlight in my hand was visible.  The problem was the IR's were on, and YES I SAW THE RED LED'S!  But something with the camera darkened the footage.  I'd say it was the camera BUT NOTHING WAS CHANGED, except the UPDATE!

This problem was easily duplicated every evening.

My fix is to remove the batteries and let it sit for a few moments and no more issues.

I've had these cameras for quite some time and I know pretty much all the idiosyncrasies these units have and trust me I have corrected all but the ones that Netgear needs to correct.

So Jag, I believe this guy, it worked before and now there's a problem.  Have some faith that users are telling it like it is and like you, we want to help!

Huh. I wonder if this is the reverse of the link video issue. My supposition has been that the link issue is due to the IR filter in place during daylight hours and not retracting. Note that I have no real idea whether there's a motor or solenoid to do something like this or not. In your case, it sounds like the filter was not moving into place so the IR illuminators weren't being seen by the sensor due to the lack of filter.

It'd be nice to know if there actually is a filter that mechanically moves inside the camera. That may answer some questions as to why it happens. I had asked in some thread or other if a "calibrated" thump of the camera could cause the filter to move on it's own but no one ever responded. Mine have never done this so I have no experience or inside knowledge making all this a giant SWAG.

Great question, it would be nice if someone in the know can respond to that!
