I want to use 1 camera in England and the other in Florida but only 1 base station. Will cameras work from existing Netgear routers separately.

No...the cameras link to the base, the base goes to the internet.
You could only do the above with 2 bases, one at each location.
( there was a beta that worked with the 7000 router from Netgear, but at this time it was pulled due to problems )

The base is a Router - right. so why won`t it work from any other router with a password. I have to return the item in favor of a hard wired Samsung, does`nt seem very thoughtful for maximum sales.

The base is not a fully functional router as you think...it sets up its own wifi network to talk to the cameras only ( no other devices )
