Since Arlo upgraded their look, I no longer can find the recycle bin.  Was this option removed or moved?

Yes, the Recycle Bin is no more.  It's always been a recommendation to save important videos locally - would you go through a garbage can to retrieve something important?  That said, there are few options to attempt a recovery.  One would be to contact support to see if they can help; they did earlier for one person who posted here.

Another, unsupported but workable method, is to use a script that I've been distributing to attempt a recovery.  It requires you to install Python, a small programming package, and one add-on. You don't need to know programming, all you need to do is install it. Edit the script with your Arlo login info and where to save the videos and you're ready to roll. There's a line where you can change the number of days back to look (it only does one day at a time) so you can change the number until you don't find any more videos and you'll have a whole collection.  Set it back to "1" and you can even schedule the job to run automatically via your computer's built-in scheduler so you always are up to date.

If you're interested, PM me your email address (don't post it here) and I'll send you the script.

Prsarmitch,

There is no way to recover content that has been deleted. We advise downloading and storing locally any content you wish to keep for future use.

Well, James at Netgear... It's all fine and good to tell someone to download all  videos you want to same locally... but you idiots have the download and delete buttons right next to each other and i accidently his the delete button while attempting to download.

so if you idiots aren't going to put the recycle bin back at least move the freaking buttons away from each other

toaster_pastry,

After tapping/clicking the delete button for library content you are prompted with a window asking you to confirm if you are sure you want to delete. This is in place to help prevent accidentally deleting content.

If you would like to see this design altered, I encourage you to visit the Arlo Idea Exchange and post your suggestion there so that your idea is properly exposed to the development team.

Android data loss often happen due to rooting, accidental deletion, systems updates, ROM flashing. Here is a effective method to solve this problem. I would like to recommend a useful tool to you-- Samsung Data Recovery.

Huh?  How does this relate to Arlo?

I am so bummed out about this change.  The recovery ability was one of the many I purchased Arlo in the first place.  Now I am back to searching for one that allows recovery.  If you leave the library on your phone it takes up way too much space so the recovery bin was FABULOUS!  Why oh why would you take it away??

Well, you could always download them proactively or sign up for a subscription that keeps them longer.  I download everything, just in case.

I am new to the Arlo family- I deleted some videos from a couple days ago by accident- is there a way to get them back?

No. Once gone, they're gone. My advice is to never delete videos - let the system do it. Download proactively.

I'm the one with the script and, as stated above, it won't recover deleted videos.  You have to proactively download them before deleting.  I don't recommend deleting anything to help prevent this issue but that depends on your paranoia level - I don't care that my videos are in the cloud while others do.

if you read the posts before yours, you'll see deleted is deleted.  You can't recover a video once you have deleted it.

I recommend never deleting videos.  Just let them migrate off according to the plan you're using. Download any videos proactively.  I've sent you an email with the Python script I use.

We installed these cameras a few weeks ago and went on vacation-we noticed a strange car in our driveway on the camera while we were gone our garage door was open so we are trying to pull up the video but we were not recording at the time it was just the screen shot that sits there for a few seconds and then after we hit refresh the image disapperaed and it went to real time.  I was wondering if you could give me the "python" script to see if we can retrieve the image?

I responded to your PM.  The same info should be shared here, too:

The script won't retreive deleted/old videos not in the library.  It did once until Netgear cleaned up their act but it's no longer possible.

The only that MIGHT work is to upgrade your subscription temporarily.  Some folks have found their old videos in there (not deleted ones, though, just ones that expired) while others have not.  Regardless of whether that helps, you can then cancel your subscription to minimize the cost.

I strongly suggest never deleting videos since they simply are not recoverable.
