Providing access to the wireless password would benefit security greatly.

Appropriate reminders and warnings would need to exist to prevent casual changes for the less-than savvy, of course, but the system would be much more secure if users could set their own passwords.

A factory-installed, random, high-strength password likely would be better than almost any user-generated one. We have no idea what the password is so anything would be speculation. Besides, access into the bases' workings would lead to hacks and defeating of any security measures already installed. Lack of access in this case is a Good Thing.
