Does the base automatically reset itself and restart when the power/wifi comes back on after an outage? My home just went through hurricane Matthew and im trying to figure out if the cameras will restart when the power comes on if im not there to do it.

Theoretically, yes. In reality, maybe. Sometimes the cameras don't reconnect after a power outage and need to be resynced or at least open and close the battery doors. There's also the issue of the cameras trying to connect with the powered-down base, draining the batteries. After a long enough outage (don't know a number), the batteries could be dead. Hours is no real problem unless the batteries were low in the first place but days would certainly be an issue.

A general recommendation is the buy a UPS/battery backup for your network equipment, meaning the modem, router and base station. A small (750VA) unit should last a few to many hours bug for longer you'd need a bigger, more expensive unit. You just need to decide what the longest period of no power is and size accordingly. My calculations for my 750VA APC UPS (~$100) is that it should last about 18 hours based on the power draw I measured using a Kill-A-Watt unit but I haven't actually unplugged things to verify that.
