Every morning (since the latest firmware update 6.6.0_6060002 on 11/11/2025) when I go into the Arlo app and have done nothing but open the app, five of my eight cameras show an image that was just taken with "just now" in the upper left of the frame and three cameras show only a black image (with no "just now") although, if you tap the black image then those three show the last image taken but will revert back to the black image when you go back to "Dashboard" or "Devices". Note that when go to the app in the morning, the app is in "Arm Home" after being in "Standby" all night.

Three of the five cameras, which show the "just now" image, are active in "Arm Home" but two of the five are only active in "Arm Away" which happens when both phones are outside the geofencing zone and that was about two weeks ago.

Of my three cameras that are only active in "Arm Away" (one is black, two show the "just now" image) and when I tap the image to show the list of video clips, the two that have the "just now" image show 10 second "motion" video clips taken when I went into the app and the one with the black image shows the last video clip from two weeks prior, when in "Arm Away".

 

Two of the three that show the black image are cameras are active in "Standby" & "Arm Away" and when I tap on the black image they show, in the list, the last image taken during "Standby" and not the 10 second "motion" clip.

The three cameras that are active in "Arm Home" (also included an all modes) and show the image with "just now", taken when I first went into the app, do not show a 10 second "motion" video, with the time corresponding to the time I opened the app, in the list of video clips.

At the time I'm seeing all of this unexplained behavior, and I do nothing in the app (live stream, play video clips, etc.) then go to the web portal, everything in the web portal is as it should be unlike the app.

Logging out of the app and back in does nothing to resolve this and the three cameras that are in "Arm Home" will show the correct images when triggered by motion and continue to do so, and if I live stream the remaining five cameras (with the "just now" or black image) they will display the live stream image as the last one taken.

A few days ago, I decided to reinstall the app and thought all was well until the next morning when I went into the app and found the same issue.

    Can you please update to 6.17 and let me know if the behavior you are seeing has been resolved. Thank you.

It's a bug.  Arlo is aware, and a fix is in the works.

Funny how this "blurred" thing changes from time to time...

Last night it took 12 minutes of toggling between Dashboard, Devices and every other category in the app before I was able to get rid of the "blurred" tiles.

Interesting though, the Video Doorbell (2nd generation) tile showed a clear image from the start, although ever since I upgraded the doorbell to the 2nd generation, the live streaming has been horribly blurred...which you can check out on yet another post on yet another issue (which I reported back in mid-December and still remains an issue).

As I recall, my devices connected to WiFi always showed immediately - it was the ones connected to a hub that were blurred. Since I'm now on the beta 6.16, I can't verify this.

My doorbell is actually connected to the hub and about half the time it is also blurred, unlike the cameras which are all connected to the hub, that always come up blurred.
It's all quite a mystery.

The beta version of the app (6.16) doesn't show blurred tiles, although there's an initial period when they're blurred.

Yeah, there's a delay since the thumbnails need to be downloaded so it shows the blurry one in the meantime. Blame it on old age but I can't recall what previous versions (before blurry) used. Maybe it was just a blank tile.

My thumbnails are also blurry!   I also dont understand why my thumbnail doesn't show the last pic from video of what triggered camera to record like it always did!!  Big security/safety issue.   My cameras are set to record upon movement.  With a notification to be sent.  At certain times of notification, I knew it was mailman.  But to make sure, all i had to do was open app, see dashboard, n then a pic of mailman.   Cant do that now!!  Its blurred out!!!  Sometimes at work, you sneak a peak at your cameras, before getting in trouble for being on your phone, and you cant even see the last trigger!  Everything blurry.   Hate update!

Woke up to now having 6.15 but no change in blurred tiles...impatiently waiting for 6.16 😬

Same here!  But now, when I tap the feed button, they are blurry to, but only for a second or two n then are clear.   It has something to do with this new 8 hour refresh is my guess.   Once that happens dashboard is blurry.    There should be NO 8 HOUR REFRESH!! Go back to the way it was!  This is horrible.  Ive owned arlo cameras for past 10 years, n yesterday was the First day ever, that no notification or camera record until 3 mins after neighbor entered my driveway..   he shoveled the snow for me, and was halfway in my driveway, before camera picked up motion!!!  In the past, the minute anyone stepped in my driveway, camera recorded.   Im so thankful it was my neighbor in my driveway and not a robber! He could walked all the way thru my driveway n may not have been detected!  Neighbor shoveling was shoveling from left to right n more that 20 feet in before camera detected.  How do you explain that??? I always felt safe with my arlo cameras, but not after this happened yesterday!   Fix the problem.  Or just stop trying to improve things and causing so many unsafe problems!!   Very very unsafe at moment and if i see that the detection n recording time doesn't pick up until half way thru my property again,  i have no choice but to start shopping for a different brand/company...

Finally got fixed for me. As a senior software developer myself, I guarantee you the app is being developed offshore with poor oversight by the cheapest labor possible. All companies are doing this now including mine. It's definitely frustrating but if you have good project management and technical leadership it can work. However, we would never allow these kinds of defects to get to production because we have rigorous testing and quality control. Since the software is not a direct revenue source it tends to get much less budget and focus than product sales. The higher ups only care when product sales start to suffer as a result.

Glad its fixed on your end.  Not fixed on my end!  EVERYTIME I open app, there is an oval button in top left corner of each camera on my dashboard, that looks like as if your cursor is in that bubble and you just keep sliding it from left to right. It takes a minimum of 6 seconds of doing whatever its doing before it goes away to display blurry.   Never had that bubble appear before latest update.   Does everyone or anyone have that bubble to?   Also, now it takes forever for clips to appear in feed.  That started yesterday!  Anyone having that issue to?

@nitronate33 that's true what you're saying, but that's the case almost everywhere. 

Plus, there's the AI in general that does everything. I hate it and I hope the EU will ban or restrict its use as it's affecting everyone's jobs, mine including (I'm not in IT, but in a completely different sector): it makes people dumb, lazy and lose their skills (ability to do research or write to name a few), and makes it difficult to measure people's success. Some individuals I'm dealing with can't do anything without the use of AI, which is really scary and I'm not exaggerating.

Two days ago, I received the 6.16 update and it seems to have somewhat solved the blurred tile issue.

The reason I say "somewhat" is that it takes 3-8 seconds before the tiles on all seven of my cameras are clear, which is an improvement but not optimal...this should actually happen immediately. Hopefully this continues to be worked on to get it back to how it used to be.

I'm on that version also, n since that version, my device tab, now does the same thing as the dashboard page!!   Now, when looking at dashboard, once its clear, my one camera shows 4 hours, where the damn bubble appears.  That to me means that's the last time camera was triggered, but in reality, is not, as I had no motion on that particular camera, since yesterday.    Arlo, just go back to the way it was!!!!!! That bubble sucks, never had to wait for cameras to come, n each camera on dashboard, showed last motion, bring that feature back!  Ughhhh....

Hi Brooke, I've been on that version for a couple days.  No more issues with the dashboard. Cameras load instantly n clear, like they used to, however, I'm still getting the grey and white bubbles across whole screen on the feed.  They scroll about 2 or 3 times, before you see the feed.   Are others experiencing that to? And is arlo working on a fix for that?

I updated to 6.17 my app now has clear pictures. The only issue is the base station icon has the bubbles that scroll at the bottom until I click it, then, it says "online"

While I'm on a beta version of the app, Dashboard and Devices load thumbnails immediately (from cache?). Feed can't do that since it has to grab the latest thumbnail from the servers so there's a short delay in loading them, 2-3 seconds. My hubs will also show the "bubble" for the same delay until they (likely) can be queried. My security hub, however, never clears the "bubble", regardless of what I do.

I only know that from day 1 that I had system, whenever a camera recorded motion, the page that I viewed all my recorded clips, NEVER had any type of bubbles covering page before my recorded clips appeared.   They were instantly there.   This only started happening after the new versions.    Not sure what changed to now see these bubbles before seeing clips.   These bubbles dont appear on a specific clip, they appear scrolling diagonal from top of screen to bottom of screen.  The whole screen... after 3 cycles of these scrolling bubbles, the clips are there. .

Those diagonal bubbles only happen in Feed while the latest thumbnail is being located and downloaded. Older versions of the app just didn't have that displayed but the same thing had to happen. Why would you want a cached thumbnail to be displayed before a current one?

It looks like I received 6.17 overnight and everything in the app seems to be working OK...for now 🤞

I'm sure the following belongs in a different post but I'll start here...

This morning on the web portal, coincidentally, I had the following show up when I selected Feed (pic #1), and after selecting Devices and then going back to Feed it no longer appeared, but now every time I open Feed I have a "something went wrong" bar showing at the top of the page (pic #2)
