This same thing was also happening with the app but was recently resolved. What I found is that on the app you are now able to live stream while a motion triggered recording is in progress, but on the web portal you still receive the message that "live streaming is currently in use by another device", as shown in the pic below...oddly  enough, on the web portal, you are able to live stream the video doorbell but not the four other cameras.
Note that this began at the same time as in the app and was mentioned on that same post but, unlike the app, it was not resolved.

I’ve had my Arlo Pro 4 cameras for about 5–6 years, and they’ve always worked the way they’re supposed to (For the most part).. They’re set to record for 2 minutes whenever motion is detected, and I used to be able to immediately open the dashboard on my PC, click play, and watch the live feed without any issues. Over the past couple of weeks, though, something has changed. Now when motion is detected and recording starts, I go to the web dashboard, click play, and get a message saying the camera is being used by another device. There’s no way to override it or start a live view from my PC. The strange part is that the mobile app still works finn,,,I can open it and watch live without any problem. But the web version won’t let me. This completely defeats the purpose. If something is happening at my house, I need to be able to check it live right away,,,,,not wait two minutes and hope the recording captured it. If the event is already over, watching it afterward isn’t nearly as useful. This really needs to be fixed.

Can you please provide what web browser you are currently using? As well as do you mind sending a screenshot of what you are seeing?

Can't see any of your four pictures, just the yellow triangle warning symbol...although I'm sure you're seeing the same thing, as in my pic that is shown in the initial post.
@BrookeN
Just thought I'd let you know that I'm using the Edge browser...of course, after all my posts, you probably already knew that 😁

😂 Yep, mine looks just like your. Sorry if i opened a post about it and you had already posted about it, i must have missed it when looking for a fix. I hate it's happening to you also, but at the same time i'm glad it's not just me 😂. Hopefully it's resolved soon.

I originally had opened a post back on 11/24/25 when both the app and web portal had the same issue. The issue with the app was resolved back in the end of March and that post was marked "solved", but since it was only the app issue that was resolved and not the web portal, @BrookeN asked me to start this new post which I did five days ago.
Let's hope that this gets resolved quickly and doesn't take as long as it did for the app 🤞

I’ve been trying to get them to add dark mode to the PC version for a long time. They already have it in the app, but not on desktop.

I don’t think they realize how many people chose Arlo Technologies specifically because you can access your cameras from a PC. That was the main reason I picked Arlo over other options.

There are plenty of security camera systems out there, but very few reasonably priced ones let you monitor your cameras on a computer. It feels like about 98% of them only offer a mobile app.

Are you still seeing this same behavior @KachinaShadow and @Captain_Trips ?

Still the same on the web portal but works great in the app 😉

I am having the same issue and it is not only annoying, it is a security issue. A strange car comes down my driveway, does something and leaves before I am even able to access my camera to see what they are up to. It is ridiculous that I am blocked from accessing my own camera. Not to mention for a while, I thought my system was hacked and someone else was monitoring my home!

Is this via the app or web? Is there an error message you see when you are not able to live stream? Is it on one of your cameras or multiple? Are you iOS or Android?

It is via the web, I do not use your app unless absolutely necessary, as I can not see phone screens very well. The devices are all Ultras and this only started happening a couple months ago. I was going to add more devices to my system, but am considering just scrapping the whole system at this point and replacing it with one that works consistently.

Besides this issue, I am plagued with device offlines, false alerts (regardless of the settings I try) every time the wind blows, which is a lot and having to charge the devices I do not have on solar quite often because of all these false alerts and the cameras constantly running. I mean seriously, I get like 5-10 alerts a day of my own truck, which is parked in my driveway, because the wind blew a flower in my wifes garden, but of course no alert about the family of deer munching on the garden even though animal; detection is enabled!

Please fix your software, it used to work and I didn't have most of these issues until your last update when you forced all these new "features" on me that I have no use for. I do not need my security system to be tricky, powered by AI or whatever, I need it to do what I bought it for, alert me of events on my property and let me see what is going on when it does. I do not need Arlo to identify everyone and everything, tell me who or whose vehicle it is or anything else, just that there is actual movement that should be investigated, thats all.

Are you using a VPN?  Can you also check to see if your Firewall rules allow port 7443?

I mentioned this when I created this post but I'm not sure if it might have been missed...

"This same thing was also happening with the app but was recently resolved. Oddly enough, on the web portal, you are able to live stream the Wireless 2K Video Doorbell (which is connected directly to the base).

Just thought this might offer a clue to someone.

I still haver the team investigating the live streaming on the web behavior. However, this is their recommendation, Are you using a VPN, if so turn it off.  Can you also check to see if your Firewall rules allow port 7443?

I am not using a VPN or accessing the system remotely. I am sitting in the living room on my computer connected to the same network as the base station and other devices (video doorbells) that use my wireless network.

Let me be clear, everything worked pretty well until you updated your software a while back, so this is on you, not me. Please fix your software. I worked as a network and systems engineer for 30 years (now retired), I know how to troubleshoot very well and when something breaks, the first thing you look for is "what changed". In this case, it was your software, please fix it.

I'm not using a VPN and I did add and enable port 7443, but it made no difference at all.

I had an incident while I was at work, about 2½ hours away from home. I have Arlo cameras inside my house watching both the front and back doors, along with cameras outside. I always keep the Arlo web page open on my second computer while I'm at work.

Someone,, or at least something,, triggered the camera inside my house. When I went to check it, I could see in the bottom-right corner that it was recording. However, when I clicked Play to view the live feed, it said the camera was "in use by another device."

My cameras are set to record for two minutes, which meant I had to wait the full two minutes before I could see whether someone was actually inside my house. I couldn't immediately check the Arlo app because I only had my work phone with me, and I'm not allowed to install personal apps on it.
Instead, I had to call my brother-in-law and ask him to go to my house with the police to make sure no one was inside.
During that entire time, the camera kept recording—well beyond the original two-minute recording limit. It even sent me another notification saying it had started recording again, which made me even more concerned that someone was actually in my home.

About 30 minutes later, they finally arrived and checked the house. It turned out there wasn't an intruder at all. A large moth had landed on the camera, which was what kept triggering the motion detection.

All of this happened because I couldn't simply click Play and view the live camera feed like I used to. It's ridiculous. It completely defeats the purpose of having a web interface that allows you to monitor your cameras. The only time you can watch the live feed is when nothing is happening. As soon as something actually triggers the camera,, the exact moment you need it most,, you're completely helpless. By the time you're finally able to view the recording, the event is already over, which defeats the entire purpose of a security camera.

I also agree with KachinaShadow that this started happening after an update a while back.
Just to add, I do not use a VPN, and I've already checked the firewall ports. Everything is configured correctly, so that's not the issue. This problem started after that update a while ago.

To be honest, if I had the money, I would have already replaced all of my Arlo cameras with a different system. Unfortunately, that's not an option for me right now. I'm really hoping this gets fixed before I have the money to switch, because I've invested a lot into Arlo cameras around and inside my property, and I'd rather not have to replace them all. When they work properly, they are great, but for being security cameras, this issue doesn't seem to be being addressed fast enough In my opinion..

UPDATE:

In a DM I sent you on 06/25 I noted the following...
"All 3 of my Pro 5s responded to the fix...I am now able to view a live feed when they're recording a motion triggered event. 1 of my 2 Ultras responded to the fixBoth of my Pro 3s did not respond to the fix."

So today I thought I'd try all of them again to see if anything has changed...
The Pro 5s are still able to view a live feed while they're recording a motion triggered event. Both Ultras display the "live streaming is currently in use by another device" message when trying to view a live feed while they're recording a motion triggered event
(strangely enough the one Ultra that previously seemed to respond to the fix, now does not). And both Pro 3s still display the "live streaming is currently in use by another device" message when trying to view a live feed while they're recording a motion triggered event.

There seems to be some difference between the Pro 5 and the Ultra & Pro 3 (along with the Pro 4 as noted by @Captain_Trips) that allows the Pro 5 to view a live feed when they're recording a motion triggered event.

I ended up getting two Arlo Outdoor Pan & Tilt cameras to replace two of my Pro 4s. I couldn't wait any longer—the security risk was just too high.

I got them for around $45 each, and I'm actually glad I did because the picture quality is so much better than the Pro 4s. I mounted them in the exact same locations, and I can now see things I couldn't see with the Pro 4s, especially objects farther away. It's not because of the pan, tilt, or zoom features—the image itself is just much clearer.

I'm still going to keep following this thread to see if Arlo ever releases a fix, because I have family members with Pro 4s and Pro 5s who are also waiting for a solution.

Thanks for the information.

Good idea by replacing the Pro 4s with the Pan T Tilts. I'm about ready to trash these two Pro 3s (they have other unsolved issues that haven't yet been resolved) but I certainly hate to give up my Ultras since they too have this same issue.
Hopefully they get this resolved soon 🤞🙄
