What is the USB ports on the back of the Base Station for?

Will we be able to use a flash drive/external drive/dvr from those ports?

Firmware updates would easily open recording via the USB port.

Possibly.... but IMO i think they opted against it due to the load placed on the processor already ( and the lower amount of mem )

I've been using the original Arlo since the beta and have not seen anything that comes close to making the usb function ( other than power )

Then again, Unless you've taken one apart, the hardware may not have been incorparated even to make it possible... one less  chip set here and there saves a lot of money.

I always wonder when I see a post from someone who says only a firmware update is needed to enable the usb ports, if the poster is by someone who has opened a base station and has enough technical knowledge to reach this conclusion or if the poster is just someone who "knows".
