Have VMB3000 with 5 cameras. I have another base station (same model) and three more cameras.

I would like to use both on same network/router. I have searched and there are MANY posts, this is supposedly no problem but can’t find anything specific.
Most say just get another account which makes sense but I can only get one app installed. Things I tried either don’t work or over time things have changed and some settings are gone. Android & iPad.
Finally got to where when i load the app the other station shows but says “paid subscription required to activate device”. The reason i have this model is because there is free vid storage.
I have no problem with two separate apps and logging in separately.
Any way to do this?

Unplugged existing base station. (Won’t setup with both plugged in)

Logged out of app.
Plugged in new base station after factory reset and installed normally and added one camera. No problem. Works like it should.
Plugged in old base, both work but have to log in separately.
Set new base to share with old account. Had a couple of “errors” and didn’t think anything happened but when I logged out of new account into old, the extra camera was there and working.
Making progress. Just need to get two more cams working.
Thanks for the response.

I have three base stations on the same network, so there is no problem on this part.

Well, there is only one app to install.  And it can only log into one account at a time.

Still, you can add the three "new" cameras to a different account - either on the phone, or on a PC (browsing to my.arlo.com).  Once onboarded you can share them with your main account using friend access.

Im not able to put two stations on the same wifi network. It sounds like if i have another account on a different network somewhere I can “grant access”.

Not sure how to do either.
If i go to existing account where it shows “grant access” the area is grayed out and I can’t input anything. (Assuming I had something).

Let's start here.

  1. Have you created a second Arlo account?
  2. Have you connected the base station ethernet to your router? Is so, what is the LED status?
  3. Have you then tried to add device from the second account? If so, were you using a PC or your phone?

Also, did you try resetting the new base station (using the paper-clip reset) before re-adding it?

If the base was first added to your main account, then you do need to remove it from your old account.

One system has been set up and working for several years.

Both stations several times turned on & off and factory reset.
Using android phone & iPad.
When the “new” one is plugged in (ethernet) green light on net connection is on for several seconds then blinks about 5 times, then solid, then blinks.
When looking at the app the new station shows up but says it needs pay subscription.
I have another account. I could disconnect the old base and put in the new one and get it working with a different account but I’m right back to plugging in two bases on same network.
Only one base is recognized.
Also the only thing I see in the arlo settings to “share” anything is a setting “grant access” but it does not allow me to do anything.

That is the right place to share the cameras.  But first you need to onboard the second base to your other account, and add the cameras to it.  Then you can share those cameras from the second account.

You won't see both bases in the same account.  You'll only see the base you added.  That's not a problem, it's just the way the system works.

After you do this, can you onboard the cameras to the different account?

You should be able to simply plug that older base back into the router.  The original account will see the original base+cameras, the second account will show the added base and added cameras.

Then share the cameras in the second account with the original account.
