Hi all,

I just installed an Arlo base station and 3 wire free cameras and I'm not really impressed with the performance.

The cameras already drained their batteries to 80% or under (in about 8 hours). In this pace they will be out of batteries by the weekend.

The motion detection is sketchy. I have a martial arts school and the cameras are directed at the mat and still won't record when there is action on the mat no matter what settings I use. I tried 10, 50, 90. All the same.

Sounds like there may be a connection issue between the base and cameras.  Can be distance, obstacles or other 2,4GHz interference (cordless phones, other WiFi, etc.).  Repositioning the base station may help.

Motion is best detected with motion across the field of view.  If directly at the camera, it won't work well.  Since you're indoors, the Q cameras may be a better choice since they simply hook up to your WiFi and use a different detection method.  There's also a new release, the Q Plus, that allows for PoE as well as SD card storage.  It seems to be aimed more at commercial installations.

Hi all, if I'm watching live streaming am I right in saying Arlo will not record too?

Correct. Live view supersedes recording. However, you can manually record while live viewing.
