Router broadcast chanel

is there any was of changing the Wifi chanel the router transmits on as it is swamping my Virgin broadband router

Generally, it's said that moving the base 20' or so from the router will allow the base to choose its own channel rather than using the same one as the router.  It's also been said that changing the router channel temporarily to the desired channel and restarting the base so it picks up the new channel followed by resetting the router to the original channel works, too.  Of course, you'd have to do this every time the base restarts for any reason.
