Hi so I recently bought rechargeable batteries from eBay they are labeled ARL 2500mAh ls16340 3.7v li-ion it claims to be Arlo compatible hence the ARL label I suppose and have had problems with them as far as battery life I've brought up the issue with supplier I bought them from and with a little teeth pulling I got a new unit from them. However it's still the same problem can somebody please just tell me, am I just doomed to have to get non rechargeable batteries at an exorbant cost? Is there a fix to this? I'm reading all these various issues that Arlo cameras are having and wonder what it is truly the netgear team is doing about it.. for the price of a unit weather it be one or six cameras nevermind the new Arlo pro upgrade it would seem that the Arlo unit due to having to use batteries have serious flaws of which I seem to not see any truly active fix on netgear part I'm totally concerned at the fact that perhaps we are being sold units that if we look at it is crap, first all cameras are having issues due to cold, now Arlo base stations aren't able to update ( please take note my internet provider is cox and I have the best internet connection for any wireless device ) with quite exceptional download and upload speeds.. I need honest and straightforward answers please as I am feeling duped for ever purchasing this system it seems to have to many issues...

First... re those batteries from EBAY...you got cheated.

There are so many fake/cheap/overated/unsafe rechargeables out there now,... This was the main reason that in the beginning Netgear support them but later pulled support for same ( one or more melted cameras like the Note 7 )

I'll say it for the 100th time... No rechargeable 123/16340 type cell can hold more than about 700mahr of chemistry...it just doesn't fit !

The fix is simple;

If you want to use rechargeables, ( I and many other do ) you have two choices..

1) wait till the new Year as Netgear is releasing an approved battery and charger for these cameras

2) read at least the last 15 pages of the rechargeable thread... there are about 3-4 well vetted, name brand, quality cells with protection built in that most have been using and are safe

BTW, Non-rechargeabl OEM batteries only cost about $1.40 each from respected online dealers

Second, All batteries will suffer some capacity loss during cold weather.  I can only say that my outdoor cameras have shown lower voltage in cold weather ( coldest was -10f ) but they did continue to work.  Yes, I had to swap them out sooner but only by a week or so.

( btw, rechargeable life usu runs a max of about 60 days anyway... as they have about 1/2 the capacity of OEM primary cells )

Third, can't speak about the base not updating.. don't knowwhat happened to your unit... but can say most here are willing to offer help if you explain the problem...and there is always calling / writing to Netgear support.
