RE: https://community.arlo.com/t5/Arlo/Can-t-add-any-schedules-with-my-original-Arlo-cam-model/m-p/24249... since I can't reply anymore? 😞

Anyways, I finally found free time to revisit my issue since my life got very busy and I didn't feel like breaking anything. This is still confusing.

So, I added a mode for that single camera and then added this mode to Schedule mode daily from 11 PM to 7 (decided to delay it for another hour) AM. OK, that's easy. However, how I do tell the other four cameras to be 24/7 daily?  Do I tell Schedule to use that "4 24/7 daily cameras" mode to be everyday and start time from midnight to midnight? StephenB says to have two nighttime modes? Confusing.

My current non-schedule modes:

All on except 1 cam 24/7 (stuck in trying to set this up).

1 tree cam from 11 PM to 7 AM (currently in  schedule mode).

You never have only the tree camera armed, so creating that mode was the wrong step. So I suggest you begin by deleting it.

Each mode controls all the cameras on the base. If a rule for a camera is missing in the custom mode, then that camera is disarmed whenever that mode is active.

So the trick in scheduling is to identify all the combinations of cameras that you want armed at the same time. You need a mode for each combination . Then you schedule those modes.

You only have two combinations of cameras you want to arm:

  1. All cameras armed (the existing Armed mode) between 7 am and 11 pm
  2. All cameras EXCEPT the tree camera armed between 11 pm and 7 am.

I already suggested that you needed to create that second mode in post 5 here:

So do that.

No, I didn't say that. I said you needed to have two schedule entries for the nighttime mode. That is because you can't create an entry that starts at 11 pm and ends at 7 am the next day. The app won't let you. Each entry needs to start and end on the same day.

So you need to create three schedule entries to get the schedule you want:

  1. The first entry schedules "nighttime" from midnight to 7 am.
  2. The second entry schedules "armed" from 7 am to 11 pm.
  3. The third entry schedules the SAME "nighttime" mode from 11 pm to midnight.

Oooh, man this is not user friendly to newbies! OK, I think I got it now. I decided to change the times again to make things more simpler:

All cameras ON (default Armed mode) with their defaults from 7 AM to 11:59 PM (I couldn't put in midnight that is the next day. No wonder I kept losing my other scheduled mode that drove me crazy! So, I will have an one minute gap between 11:59 PM to midnight. It's too bad I can't put seconds to have 11:59:59 PM to 12:00:00 AM for its one second gap of no Arlo. :().

All cameras except the one tree with their defaults from midnight to 7 AM.

I hope this will work. 🙂

Actually the schedule finiishes at the end of the final minute, so there is no gap.

11:59 PM goes to 11:59:59? Interesting. Thanks!
