Bought 5 of these two camera systems through Home Shopping Network thinking they used batteries that were rechargeable. They came with regular duracell lithium 123 batteries and after setting up the first one in trial mode, the batteries were already 25% gone. Does anyone know how long they should last if used in optimzed setting for motion detection and is triggered once or twice a day? Is there a rechargeable battery solution for the Arlo HD camera or am I doomed to buying replacement batteries for ever?

You purchased the Arlo camera set ( original ) that uses 123 cells....
First , they are costly if prob bought local but online at Battery Junction they run about $1.45 each in sets of 12 ( just bought some ). As to rechargeables, yes... Netgear supports the tenergy brand with the same company charger.
As to length of time ...depends mostly on usage ( spec is 5 or less mins per day ), and then signal strength to cam....
Mine in normal use run about 3-4 months and in very low usage up to 6-7( armed , not viewed ).
Viewing and recording use the most power, armed very low and disarmed almost none
Best bet for you is to read thru some of the FAQs
