Had a very good, working 'schedule' across each day/week for having various combinations of cameras on/off.

That is gone now as of this new app. And starting even with the terminology, the app is ridiculous in how unintuitive it presents itself. The only thing that makes sense is 'away' and having all cameras on. Beyond that . . . . well . . . .

So at a very basic level, how do you create a schedule with stop/start of cameras across hours of a day? Can this new app even understand that need or does it have to be described differently now?

Well, replying to my own post, fumbled with this and now have under 'Schedules' under some 'Automations' tab in the app a series of three 'Home' schedules that I'm thinking/hoping might give me what I want. All the other nonsense I saw when I opened this app today and saw the new app I deleted out of it and pared it down to this.

We'll see . . . . . . . . . I hope to f this works . . . .

If this doesn't work, please post the details of what schedule you want, and also include screenshots of the schedule automations.

Well, whatever I created in my description above made some sense to me intuitively, but didn't function as I wanted. In fact, some rather odd actions followed.

My initial setup:

  • under Arm Home - Device Rules, I had all 5 cameras set to record motion
  • under Automations (which I'm still so uncertain about) in the lower part of that Arm Home Screen, I had a series of 'Home' schedules all selected. Each of these triggerered a specific camera or cameras to be on (I still don't get how they go 'off', so assumed over a day as they are triggered, the next one shuts off the previous Automation)
  • I then set Arm Home

That's it. This seemed to make sense to me.

And what happened through last night with the above settings? At the time that triggered each Automation, a video was recorded. No motion of anything . . . . a couple are dead rooms with no movement ever unless someone broke in. So this got me to think 'Automations' are specific triggers and don't have any begin/end . . . they simply occur and as such are useless when considering a schedule when cams are on and off.

The automations need to change to a new mode.  Trying to control individual cameras in the schedule automation won't work.

Then quite sincerely, this app is absolute trash.
