IR is off 24/7. Streams in color at night but red in daylight. Why?

These cameras use a mechanical IR filter. It is probably stuck. Several things you can try to resolve this problem:

1) Remove and re-insert the batteries, (possibly put in fresh batteries as batteries that are weak can cause this).

2) If you are using rechargeable batteries try a set of Lithium batteries as they put out more voltage.

3) Gently tap on the sides of the camera to see if you can unstick the filter.

4) If the camera is in warranty, contact Customer Support.

Its not stuck. It's in color at night and sometimes in daylight. IR is set to OFF. So it sounds more like a software issue causing the hardware to trigger even though IR is set OFF.

In darkness IR is grey NOT color. Color is only seen when IR is OFF. IR is coming on in daytime with light.

So basically the IR lens is coming on with light and going off in the dark in essence is reversed of how it should be. And it cost just as much to buy a new one as it would to send and receive a repair. And because it's a generation one it would just do it again anyway.

It does sound like a defective camera. Has this been this way since day 1? As far as purchasing a new Gen 1 camera again and having the same problem, I own 5 of them and have never had this problem.
