IFTTT Arlo not working

I have the Arlo system with 2 cameras and had been using IFTTT recipes successfully up until approx 2 weeks ago.  They now only work as a trigger to disarm/arm the arlo base station,

They wont work if the trigger is for example:

'arlo motion'- IFTTT trigger -  record video on my homeboy device OR turn on WEMO plug OR send text applets, none work anymore.

IFTTT receipes work the other way round though, for example

'homeboy disarmed/armed' - IFTTT trigger - Disarm /arm arlo base station

'Sunset' - IFTTT trigger - arm arlo

The above tells me that the Arlo service is talking to IFTTT but for some unknown reason the applets that are 'triggered' by an arlo event just stopped working after approx 18 months of working fine.

I have disconnected the Arlo service and reconnected on IFTTT, deleted all Arlo receipes/applets and started again.  Reset the base station and still no joy.  Event log in IFTTT lists failed events stating 'problem with the arlo service'

Is any one using IFTTT successfully to trigger something else on an Arlo event, eg arlo motion triggers something else to happen on another device?

I have a support case open with Arlo but would like to know if its just me or others are having this issue too.

And now we're on the last day of January 2018 and the device list for "that" still won't populate in IFTTT.

Nope. The That function still doesn't work on Ifttt

There is also an issue related to the one we discuus:

If you change a camera, the old one will remain and we can't select the new one in the "service". When selecting Arlo service, the list contains the "old" camera and not the new ones.

So it's really a big issue !

I am very very very disappointed by Netgear. The lack of response or statement, they are really taking their customer for nothing.

I will never recommand this brand to any of my friends or family, never!

stringify is about as useless as the "G" in lasagna. about 8 of 10 times i get "it looks like stringify isn't connected to you google account..." even though it IS and it works randomly so i know it DOES work, i don't know WHEN it works. seems like the lack of response by netgear is upsetting a lot of people and their interest in resolving the issue even moreso. but they keep coming out with new products like that security light! if they can't get a camera to work, i doubt they can get a light to work either.

Interesting you're having so much trouble with Stringify. I do all my Google Assistant commands via IFTTT that triggers my Stringify flow and never have any issues. I didn't realize Stringify had direct Google access, but now it looks like if you use that you have to be more specific with your commands "ask stringify to..." type stuff. Anyway, I know it's an extra step, but you might try the IFTTT-> Stringify.

Stringify works with Arlo insomuch as is support (unlike IFTTT) but I wish you could set custom modes.

it is VERY strange becuase without doing ANYTHING...it works on some days and not others. in fact, sometimes i have to repeat THE VERY EXACT command before it acknowledges stringify exists. that is, WHEN i have the patience to set the alarm via google home. and other times, i can just say it verbatim as i should and always do, and it triggers the correct flow.  stringify is useless too.

The predefined recipes for Arm and Disarm do not work.  It stops at "Loading".........

Why has there been no progress on this in months ?

Every time I visit this forum I leave disappointed due to the lack of any progress or support from Netgear.  Fundamental product issues remain unresolved for months and in some cases years.

As Netgear give none of the issues raised on this site any priority, I have made it my policy to post the same issue on any random product review site in the hope that this may get more attention.

I recommend it.

Please provide an update on a fix.  It's been months with no progress.  Should we assume Netgear never plan to fix this and start to look for a better product ?  Is there any plan to fix this ?????

I am increasingly angry with Netgear and the lack of any useful information on this forum.  Lack of customer support or communication is making me an active Netgear hater on every forum I can find.

I suggest to comment every Twitter post from Arlo Netgear with the following question "when will you fix the issue with Ifttt? It's broken since September 2017!"
We can also do the same with the Facebook post from Arlo/Netgear.
Maybe they will take care of their customers

This is getting pretty old.

But even if/when you fix ifttt, please give access to custom modes. The default arm and disarm is not an option for many.. Yawn

Awnser from Arlo support this morning:

The arlo integration is now working, that is why it would be better if you will contact IFTTT with regard to the recipe that you created.

Not liking this at all. Looks like the begining of a tennis match and Im the green fuzzy ball

Just recently realized that IFTTT stopped arming my Arlo automatically at night and I can't fix it because this months old bug.

Netgear only makes available a very limited number of commands for automation and no public API. Now we can't even use these limited commands through the most popular automation service out there.

To the Arlo team, I suppose that launching new products without fixing the user experience with your current ones is working for you, but how long will this last?

I've just bought Arlo from Amazon and i'm very frustated about this problem. Which other alarm system should i consider in order ti replace this?

You should look into stringify first. You can do more things at once. You can still use ifttt, but have it trigger stringify, and stringify will then do the rest, especially nice if you have other smart things. With ifttt you are contained to if this happens then this SINGLE thing will happen. Stringify can do multiple things like turn on a lights and send out notifications and sound an alarm but only at certain times, etc....

Support just informed me of the following on a ticket that's been open since early Jan:

"Kindly know that currently we are still working with the other team with regard to this issue. Rest assured that our Engineering Team are proactively working on this issue to be resolved."

I've been using Stringify without issues.  I'm just concerned about why it takes months to figure this out...  Unfortunately there isn't another vendor out there that provides a decent cloud pricing model and the ability to arm/disarm with Stringify.

I have 3 currently working fine that I can control from my smart phone. I bought 2 more for the basic plan for 5 total and tried to insync the last 2 but they won't show up on my phone like the previous ones already in place. Why is that even it showed the blue light on ea 2 new cameras ? I'm baffled 😕

Netgear are not going to give this any attention as their priority is new products not enhancements to the existing products.  It is likely a problem in the way their business units are structured and incentivised.  The only solution will  be to encourage a competitor like Xiaomi to develop a competing product.  They will do it cheaper and are more likely to allocate the resources to develop a solution that beats Arlo.
