Hi community,

I have a suboptimal positioning at home and want to check for ideas if it's possible to do sth against it. My Arlo cam is positioned on a window sill on second floor (no alternative possible). The cam records the area and access way before the front door. The thing is: this area is fairly small so that I need to tilt the cam so extremely to avoid parts of the street (i.e. the ankle is very pointed). I've been playing around with tilting and adjusting (sensitivity and all) the cam for quite some time, however, haven't found a positioning yet that has more "good records" than "bad records" (numerous false and "unwanted" alarms). Has anybody got an idea how to overcome it? Could I position the cam in a better ankle and then sort of tape the sensor a bit to not "see" cars on the street or suchlike. Any ideas/workarounds are welcome. Beacuse this way, the Arlo (any?) cam is not very useful for me.

Thanks

Yes.. some in the past have taped over the sensor area in small increments until they obtained the result wanted.

It is a trail and error process. ( test with a blue type paint tape that doesn't leave glue behind when removed )

Make sure it's the PIR sensor and not the camera lens. 😉

I've used small pieces of tape to block the PIR successfully. These sensors can't be adjusted so you have to "adjust" the manually.
