I totally agree with you on that. Not a reliable security camera- I have done everything what Netgear recommended. Just a piece of "JUNK"..........

I have tried several different mounting positions. Ive placed my cameras at 9 ft and angled them as far down as possible. Ive set the pan and zoon feature in device settings to cover about 20 sq ft areas. There are no trees or shrubs in the way. Im still receiving multiple false nofifications and recordings. Im going through batteries like crazy because of it. I think my only option left is to return the cameras.
You do realize that Pan and Zoom on the wireless cameras does nothing for motion detection due to the passive IR detector, right? You're simply cropping what you see since the sensor cannot be cropped in any way.
Reflected IR can be the cause if sunlight is playing off leaves, etc. I have a camera pointed west that afternoon sun can play havoc with. I'm not willing to change what it's looking at and have no real options for alternative mounting so I deal with it as best I can using scheduling. That may well not be possible for you - only you can determine that. Post screenshots of your views for suggestions.

And this is where if Netgear would make their cameras compatible with most if not all smarthome devices, this can be easily fixed.
Since I have sensors outstide that monitor temperature, illuminance and other things. It would be as simple as programming the cameras to turn down the sensitivity when the illuminance reaches a certain point.
Or use my other motion sensors out front to trigger the camera and not allow the built in IR of the arlo to be used.
So many things which are already available and reliable that NetGear can add as an addon.
In my mind, just using the USB's to now make the Arlo router a searchable Zwave compatible device would open so much more capabilities for these cameras.

I am getting false motion detection if I arm the camera during the day. I have just been using schedule to arm at night and I don't think I got any false detect there. However one day when I armed during the day I had 20. Tried again yesterday and had 2, I think weather was similar, sunny, roughly same time of day. I am using the default sensitivity and they are all facing down as much as I can get them to go with the magnetic mounts. It would be nice if the mount allowed more flexibility close to the wall (if the ball were more complete so the camera doesn't hit the edge). I know there are others available, don't want to spend even more money on these!

The image you posted seems like you shouldn't be getting false activations unless birds or insects fly into the area. Does the sun ever get to illuminate the sidewalk or entry floor more? That could cause issues although I wouldn't think so since, unlike IR reflecting off moving leaves, there's no movement.

Since you think this happens is "roughly same time of day", you could,
1) just lower the sense a bit... small steps down at a time to see if it stop giving false triggers
2) set up a second mode for day use with lower sense level.... use the schedule for a day and night modes with different sense amounts, set for the appropriate times
