I set a custom schedule for 10pm to 6am arm devices. I would expect to only receive notifications of movements on those devices during those times. Instead, at 10pm I receive YOUR CAMERAS ARE ON and then at 6am YOUR CAMERAS ARE OFF. Then at 10pm YOUR CAMERAS ARE ON. Then at 6am YOUR CAMERAS ARE OFF. (You know, just like you wanted). Please disable this unnecessary alert that keeps us from focusing on actual important alerts.

@Sithgear posted a workaround on a different thread.

On iPhones, you can set up Focus to silence the Arlo App.  Then schedule Focus to start one minute before the mode change, and end one minute after the mode change.  You can something similar with "Do Not Disturb" on Android.

Obviously just a workaround, but it does silence the unwanted notifications with minimal security impact.

The complaint is understood and the solution is part of a larger grouping of changes that will be coming in a future update. I don't have an estimation at this time for when those changes will be available, but more control over push notifications in general will be part of that update.

We do  have this in as a feature request. And the team is currently looking into it. Once there is an update I will let the community know.

I don't understand why there always needs to be a workaround with Arlo, and nothing straightforward. There is a workaround for connecting Pro 2 cameras. There is a workaround for getting the time stamp on shared videos. There is a workaround for doing this and doing that.

I agree they are needed way too often, and that Arlo can be very slow to fix things.

But If there is a workaround for a known problem, I will point it out.

It's not a feature request it's a bug fix. It didn't happen before and no one in their right mind would have asked for it.

@Crisis2– Spot on. I could not agree more.

Classifying a broken core function as a "feature request" is a cheap tactic to downplay a major flaw that Arlo caused themselves. Nobody asked for this disruptive system spam, yet it was forced onto every single user through an automatic software update.

Looking at the timeline, moderator @BrookeN stated as early as April 16th that the team was "looking into it." More than a month later, on May 21st, we are still being brushed off with vague promises of a "future update" with no ETA.

It is deeply disappointing that a premium security provider chooses to dismiss a critical, self-inflicted vulnerability rather than deploying an immediate hotfix. We are not asking for a new shiny feature; we are demanding that Arlo restores the basic system control we already paid for.

I recently added a couple of Pro 5 and Ultra cameras to my Standby mode, did not enable Send Notifications for any of them; however, I'm receiving notifications on my iPhone app (ver. 6.30.0) from all of them and seem to be unable to stop this. Am I missed something in the configuration or is this a bug in the app?

Maybe I'm incorrect in my logic, but the workaround being suggested appears to not be a good workaround. It appears to me it would silence ALL notifications for the specified time period preventing notifications (e.g., water leak detection) that are required from coming. Just my two cents.

It would block all Arlo notifications for 2 minutes.

You are not incorrect at all - although maybe a workaround (and a very poor one at that), a leading security camera provider like Arlo shouldn't depend on its paying customers having to find workarounds when they screw things up with unsolicited software updates. Period.

By the way, StephenB, what are the criteria for getting the "Superuser" and "Guru" stamp on here? Are there perhaps some Arlo fan clubs out there I'm not aware of...?

Another month is gone and nothing happened. Is the Arlo team still "looking into this". But, there is nothing to look into. Provide an update of your app immediately!

Up to Arlo.  I was a Netgear superuser (still am) back when Arlo was divested, and retain the superuser status I had then.

Note I don't work for Arlo, and Arlo doesn't limit what superusers can (or can't) post.  Other than the forum guidelines that apply to everyone.

You can add another month again.

I have schedule + arrive/leave home 2 or 3 times/day, you can calculate how many unwanted notifications I get...

But you used to work for Netgear/Arlo @StephenB , no?

Seriously thinking of moving to another supplier

1  doesn't alert for connection lost nest does. Any self respecting house breakers going to try and  disable your WiFi.

2 too many alerts for birds spiders or moving bushes!

3 set cameras to come on at dusk go off at dawn to avoid this bug but that doesn't work as it often forgets about dawn. Quality software!

4 this bug prevents me using the setup I had before.

5 alerts now often get delayed by 40mins plus, so not much use as a security camera as you will have either unexpectedly encountered the burglar or they'll be long gone.

My app now has a control to disable mode change notifications.  That is 6.36.0 (iOS).  Press the profile icon in the upper left, and then press "notifications", and see if you are also seeing this control.

No, I've never worked for either company.

No, my Arlo App (newest version 6.36.0 in the German App Store) has no button to turn off the notification for status change. It is still only possible to disable all notifications.

I am already looking for another security camera system and will definitely quit Arlo as my 18 (!) cameras are becoming old.  I am not willing to pay to a company which is not able to fulfill simple needs of their customers.

@StephenB I have 6.37.1 and can only mute notifications, even though they used a toggle switch.

Are you seeing a toggle switch for mode change notifications?

Yep!

I see a toggle that is labeled "Mode Change Notifications" - which is apparently not what you are seeing.

Location notifications are in a very different place in the iOS app (apple settings->apps->arlo secure).  There are just supposed to send you a notification when you enter/leave the geofence zone.  That would be very useful for troubleshooting if they worked.  But they haven't worked with iOS for years (something I posted quite a while ago).

Hello @gthh @Edinburgh_lad1 - I just wanted to let you know that the feature to mute mode change notifications is not available in the EU region yet.  I am hoping that it will be released to EU soon.
