Check your batteries before you discard them after your camera fades out. Some may still be good.

Check your batteries before you discard them after your camera fades out. Use a battery power check because I have found that most of the time 1 or 2 of the batteries are still good and you only need to replace 2 of them and you're back on line. These batteries are expensive!! Check them before you toss 'em.

Be aware that these cameras use the four batteries as two sets of two, front and rear. This is done to maximize battery life with the camera switching between the pairs automatically. That means that if the battery door isn't making contact with at least one battery of the pair it will never get used until the connection is made. This leads to more rapid draining of the remaining pair since it is used all the time. Make sure that you only lightly place the batteries in their slots and let the door do the pushing down.

Also, check Internet pricing - you should be able to get them for under $2 apiece. And there's always the Tenergy rechargeable batteries that have been certified by Arlo.
