New VMB4000 base station. When I try to add it in the app or using the web, nothing shows up after the search. The lights on the base station are as follows:

Power - solid green

Internet - solid green

Camera(s) - solid amber

I think it may be bad. The camera light shouldn't be solid amber with no cameras added, should it? Any ideas?

It appears that your hardware may be defective. We ask that you reach out to support for more information. You can get to support by going  within the app on your mobile device click on the silhouette on the top left ~ support center ~ the device that you are needing assistance with then choose the behavior you are seeing. If by chance you do not have a subscription and are unable to reach out to support please send me a dm and I will create a ticket for you. Did you also remove the base from your account before trying to add it again? You can't add a device that's already in your account.

Forgive me for my reply but I thought I should share this!

I had countless issues with green green Amber lights on my hub. Went through all the same as everyone else. However what I did different was leaving the power supply in the hub and hub still on, removed ethernet cable. Then used pin on reset button several times to make sure it connects and clicks as it should! Pinned and held reset button for 10secs and watched all lights flash Amber several times then blank or all amber. Then I unplugged the power and switched it off. I then made sure I was on the same WiFi network and made sure it was only 2.4ghz using my android device. The base would be connected to that router on 2.4ghz and connected via the ethernet to the Arlo hub/ base station

I went through the set up for hub on the app and bang discoverable.

So then added my wireless cameras one by one using the app as instructed. Voilà!

Hope this helps.

Also, bare in mind when setting up the hub, if successful like me, then the app will push new firmware and bring your hub up to date.

Good Luck!

I tried to add a new Arlo Pro camera to the app, but the app couldn't find it. So I decided to remove the base station from the app and set it up again as a new device.

Now the power light on the base station is solid orange.

I have:

1. turned the base station off and on again

2. turned the base station off, and then on again while holding in the reset button

3. turned the router off and on again

The power light is still solid orange and therefore I can't add it to the app. Help. Is this intentionally done by Arlo to force me in to buying new equipment?

The solid Amber power led indication suggests that the base station is locked up trying to boot.

Unusual that this occurred trying to add a camera so you would be forgiven that legacy devices are rigged to fail.

The process for factory reset of the base station is to use a paper clip to hold the rear reset button for more than 10sec until the base LEDs begin flashing. The base should restore eventually with green, green, solid amber LEDs left to right that means the base is ready to be claimed by an account.

If a factory reset fails then try replacing the base power adapter with a compatible adapter to eliminate it as faulty.

Thanks Danny, I held the reset button in for up to 30 seconds but the orange light didn't budge, no lights started flashing.

Time for a second hand search on eBay I think!

I would look for a VMB 4540 as some customers have reported difficulties getting secondhand base stations to work.

Someone even suggested that older base firmware versions are no longer supported by arlo although using same hardware, go figure.

It might also be the power adapter.  So you could see if you have another one with the same specs on hand, or perhaps do a risk buy of a replacement adapter before you get a new base.

@chuongdt were you able to get the VMB4000 to connect?

Yes, Arlo support was awesome and walked me through several steps to reconnect.

Yes, I was.   I used a access point extender and put it near the bad camera and connected the two together with an ethernet cable.   That has boosted the signal to the cameras in the back enough for them to stay connected.

Thank you for the update. I am glad to hear that you were able to get it connected.

was there a fix for this?  My base went offline.  I did the 1001 things they want you to do and then decided maybe by base was bad.  Bought a 2nd base.  The 2nd based is doing the same thing.   the power stays amber.  Periodically the lights will flash through green and then they go out and the power goes back to amber.  it's like it is in constant reboot mode since they did some upgrade.

But seriously 2 different bases have this issue?  All Arlo wants to do is sell me an entire to set at 30% off.  Still looking for a solution.  I know if buy an 3rd base I will be in the same boat.  I doubt it is a base issue at all.

In my case that was because one of the cameras was just out of range of the WiFi signal.   I fixed it by adding a WiFi extender and another base station connected to the extender by ethernet cable.   That combination got the problem cameras back in range and everything is a nice constant blue now.

Lucky, wish mine was that simple.  the base just cycles and I cannot even connect it.
