Hi,

I downloaded the firmware update yesterday for my Nighthawk R7000 which allows me to use the Arlo camera's with my router.

I've followed the instructions, added the router as base station and i'm trying to add the camera using WPS.
However, the Blue led on the camera keeps blinking. It doens't synch at all.

Tried to reset the router, I've tried synching the camera again.
Nothing works...

This is a new process for us and likely few of us (including me) have this router.  That puts you on the leading edge (lucky you). A couple of things pop to mind.  1) are there settings in the router to enable and/or otherwise configure the router for Arlo and have you been through any setup?  2) Open and close the battery door on the camera to reset it to see if that helps.  3) Is there an Arlo base that you can temporarily use to sync the camera to?  If so, what firmware is on the camera?  If possible, try updating the firmware by opening and closing the battery door.

Good luck!

I fully understand we're the first batch of users.

I found a solution for my problem.
To make sure my ISP's Modem didn't give any problems with the R7000 I was using it as an Access Point.

When I changed the setting to "Router" the Arlo setup went smoothly as it should.

So it seems that connecting the Arlo Camera was having issues when the R7000 was configured as an Access Point, but not when it's configured as a Router.

Anyway, problem solved on my end 🙂

Hi

1) Yes, only one area and one switch to activate Arlo in the R7000 router, that’s already done earlier.
2) It doesn’t help still the same.
3) Don’t have an Arlo Base I just bought only the add-on Arlo Camera.
4) There is an update but doesn’t update it fails because it fails to sync with the router.

Its always been in “Router Mode”.

I got a new problem maybe its related to not syncing with the R7000 router, read my new message.

@jguerdat:

Actually.
It's not a solution for me.

In order for me to work this properly I need the R7000 to be in Access Point mode.
But then the Arlo doesn't work.

If you have to use the AP mode, I guess you're stuck. If you want to raise awareness so maybe it will be fixed, use the R7000 forums and support links.

I don't want to use AP Mode it might make the network or internet not work properly. I have wireless and wired devices connected to the router, such a Wireless Cable Modem (Wireless is switched off)), NASD Device (Storage & DLNA), Pay TV (Fetch TV), IP Camera's, etc.

I'm having issues using Arlo with my R7000 as well.

I've managed to add the R7000 as a base station in the Arlo App. I have synced 3 cameras; they show up in the Arlo app and as "Connected Devices" on the R7000 config page (2.4 band, SSID --). However, they do not show up as connected cameras in the R7000 "Arlo" config page.

In the Arlo App I can see my 3 cameras under the R7000 base station and they appear to be correctly reporting battery life and signal strength, but when I try to view live video on any one of them I get an error message that says "cannot view live video at this time".

My mobile has the same problem as my PC, I can't sync the Arlo Camera with R7000 Router.

I can see in the mobile WLAN section the Arlo Camera WiFi connection but I don't have the password to log into the device Wi-FI.

Sa9X11,

What is the LED behavior of your camera when trying to sync?

Are you following these steps to sync the camera to your R7000? How do I sync my Arlo camera to my R7000 router?

Hi

I did followed those steps but failed.

I managed to fix it but not too sure how maybe because I switch off Internet traffic meter in R7000 web page, I did test this when I turn on traffic meter the Arlo camera stop working but I did other thing first, like changing the region of the wireless setup to "United States", I am in Australia and it worked finding my Arlo Camera on Arlo Page then later on I changed it back to Australia and it still working.

I tried a factory reset as well and still the camera would sync but would not show up in the Arlo tab and would not stream live video in the Arlo app. I give up and will go back to using my Arlo base station.

What firmware version are you running on your R7000?

I had same problem before I mark around a bit with the switches on R7000 page I made it work.

The only new changes I made is:

NAT Filtering - Open

Traffic Meter - OFF (Maybe the Camera turns off when this is ON - TRY THIS FIRST and then go to Arlo section and refresh)

Address Reservation - Added the camera IP address

Router USB Port - No Flash or HD Connected (Going to try get a Flash compartible disk for this Router)

koarl nailed it. The only change I made was to remove the USB drive I was using as a readyshare drive, restarted the R7000 and camera appeared in Arlo tab!!! I can now see video in Arlo app and motion detection is working. Great work koarl!!

Some other notes about my config.

- I am running with NAT in secured mode.

- I do not have IP reservations for cameras.

- Traffic meter is off

Weird interaction between a USB drive and Arlo. Have you tried reinserting the drive to see what happens?

After a day of using Arlo on the R7000, I can report that the streaming video performance is WAY below what it was with the Arlo base station. I'm used to fluid, lag free video. The best I can get from the R7000 is basically still pictures.

That cameras are connected and show up in the Arlo tab. My firmware version is V1.0.6.28_1.1.83.

My Livevideos are ok, maybe your Internet Connection is slow. I have also Smart Connect on the R7000 activated.
