I purchased an Arlo system from Amazon a few weeks ago. I took it out of the box hooked it up to my router (wireless netgear). I couldn't get connected to the base station from my computer or my iphone through the iphone application. I hook it up get the two green lights and still can't get the station to hook up. What follows are the steps i have taken and am still unsuccessful.
- from phone- turned off cellular data- used wireless router
- exchanged cat 5 cables from base station to router (verified cat 5 cable worked)
- turned wireless off on computer and connected directly to router
- reset router holding reset and sync until reboot
- tried internet explorer
- tried firefox
- tried Chrome
Called help line and spent over an hour with tech support tried the following
- verifyed router settings and that the router identified the base station and the base station has an IP address
- ran online "Sheilds up" to verify the ports 80 and 443 were open
- tried all of the steps previously tried above
- Was advised tech had tried everything she could thing of. she had to send me to next level support.
I had been out of town until now. I got frustrated and returned the unit to Amazon in exchange for ANOTHER UNIT.
- I tried all of the above again- NO SUCCESS
- I tried to connect the unit through all these ways again using DIFFERENT computer- No success.
I called my service provider and asked if she knew of any issues. She didn't with the exception of mabye not having a static IP addess
- Are static IP addesses requred?

No, static IP addresses are not required. Since you've already been through tech support, this is a silly question but allow me. Are you trying to access the base station directly or just the normal setup through the Arlo servers? The base is a closed box with no user access. I'm quite sure you're not trying this but had to ask.

Alan49,
Welcome to the community! When syncing cameras quickly press and release the sync button on the base station. If done correctly the center camera sync light will blink green. Once it is blinking green then press and release the sync button the camera, if the sync is successful the camera LED will rapidly blink blue and turn off. If the USB light flashes on the base station that means the sync button was held too long.
Let me know if this helps!

I was having the same problems with getting my base unit to connect to the internet(my wifi router). I followed the instruction perfectly, too. I have finally gotten my system to work. Here's what I did;
1. press and hold the sync button on the base for about 10 secs until the SHARE light comes on and blinks (light to the far right), release the button and wait about 2-3 secs. then press and hold again until sync light comes on or blinks. at that point, I was able to sync the cameras without any problems. it works perfectly now. after you have syncd all cameras, the sync LED on the base unit will stay on. you should have 3 lights activated at all times. hope this works for you too.

Holding the button too long as you state actually causes an issue since that LED blinking on the far right is actually for the USB. I'm not sure why it worked for you but the base station sync LED should be pressed only briefly (<1 second) currently to put the base into sync mode.
I won't argue with success, though.
