I'm wanting to purchase an Arlo for outdoor use, but we live on a farm where internet/WIFI isn't available. I do have cell phone service, an iPhone and a hotspot on our monthly data plan that allows me to use my macbook air laptop. The camera will be used for a unique situation, not security. We want to monitor nesting owls that are threatened species that we have on our farm. I want to mount the camera inside their nest box and be able to pull it up on my phone or macbook to view their activity. I'm lost as to which Arlo model would work for this, if any. Please help. 🙂

You can use an wifi extender with an ethernet port to run a base unit with a hotspot,  that said, if your using yr phone for the hotspot, range and/or good contact may be an issue betwwen the phone and the extender.

Also the power for the camera would be a limiting issue as the more use, the less time it will last. Getting into the nesting box may be an issue if the battery goes south.

In all honesty, this setup sounds more like a wired camera is needed.
