Arlo night vision suddenly stopped working

We just purchased and set up the camera, outdoors (current temp is 28 degrees).  The night vision was working then suddenly stopped.  The battery level also jumped from 82% to 20% within minutes.  Could this mean the camera is defective?

Could be.  First, though, try power cycling the base and open and close the battery doors.
