Arlo Smart plans Required?

is an "Alrlo Smart" plan REQUIRED for all of the products, or can you just download off app/PC and save yourself?

Smart is not required on the free plan and is just part of the upgraded subscriptions. However, it has nothing to do with downloading. Regardless of plan, you must download any videos you want to save long-term.
