Hi, I have the wirefree Arlo and can see from previous posts that there have been numerous complaints around the activity zone not working for a well over 12 months. Mine does not work no matter what I do. The batteries are lasting about 4 weeks and I am getting way too many motion alerts every day (around 70).
I bought this based on good reviews but am really disappointed with what I have and how much I paid for it!!
I have dropped to best battery life reducing quality of picture and within 2 weeks it has dropped to 45%.
Can someone advise as I am really fed up with this issue?
Thanks
Shrew

What have you tried to fix this? There are various FAQs here in the support section about camera positioning and motion sensitivity, among many others, that may help. It sounds like your camera could be better positioned so that the street (and sky?) aren't in view. Remember that the camera can only detect people out to ~20 feet so anything beyond that isn't generally worth viewing. The motion sensitivity setting in your modes and rules is also a great place to start although may not be needed if the camera is properly positioned. These should reduce battery usage a lot.
As for the activity zone, the camera positioning may be the issue since reflections from cars, etc. of the sun's IR, even though out of the zone may be reflecting onto something in the zone, causing the false trigger. My video doorbell has the issue since it points straight out to the street and which can't be changed so I use a zone as well as reducing the motion sensitivity to minimize false triggers.

So with a Camera over the garage pointed down at the driveway and keeping the street out of the picture - this should help avoid "false" motion alerts - would that be fair to say?

It _should_ but every situation is different so testing is needed. Just make sure the primary path of motion is across the FOV and not at the camera.

Guys at Arlo this is a joke. I paid £225 for this. Pay a subscription and now changing batteries every 2 weeks!!!
