I worked in electronics for the government for over 30 years, I was a field service technician for both fixed and tactical satellite systems, then later a field service technician for automated test equipment. Lastly I retired from a post in engineering with the government.  After a few years of retirement I had to do something so I took a job at a casino repairing slot machines. Then I retired a second time before COVID hit.

So that's the background, now the  problem; I use Microsoft Edge ONLY  for logging into Arlo, (I use Firefox for all my web browsing), but the promised 14 days for 2-step Authentication never works.

Today alone I had to get THREE CODES !!!

The first at 11:10 AM, then again 6:10 PM and again at 8:08 PM.

I have never seen 14 days. Maybe two or three days, never more.

Arlo will not help with this problem unless I subscribe to something more than the 7 day free storage. Then the answer was "maybe we can help with your problem then".

With my son we have developed a bypass that will store videos locally, accessible by any web browser within my local network.

No More 2-Step Authentication

We use a Pi, a touch of software and a 64 Gb Micro SD card to communicate with my local network.  A bit of internal web page writing on the fly and there you go. Storage is depending on number of videos and length of the videos. Then overwriting will happen with the oldest videos.

Access outside of my network VIA the internet is a work in progress and will have it soon with a unique Permanent Authentication Scheme .

Ya' know, I could make a bundle on this. But If I didn't have the cursed 2-Step Authentication, if it was an option that I could turn off, well...
