My Doorbell stopped working spontaneously.
- First it lost connection but still made a sound when I pressed the button. I followed instructions to reconnect. No chime, no lights, no recognition of the QR code but the button made a sound. I have not made any changes to my Wifi. It has been connected for about a year, no issues until now.
- So I tried long press reset. Nothing. No lights, no sound, no sound when I pressed the button. Dead.
- So I tried the factory reset of turning off power for more than 15min but still nothing from the unit.
It is completely broken. I bought it in July 2021 and installed it in October using a certified electrician. 18 months is not a reasonable lifespan.
Has anyone else been able to rescue a dead Arlo doorbell?
I have tried four times to get hold of Arlo support but there is no email address and the bot on the website is faulty. It tells you it will "put you through" to Support then times out. I'm getting pretty mad! 😡

Transfomer had gone. Blew up when the doorbell was pressed as others have reported. This was not suggested as part of the troubleshooting procedures I went through online and via Arlo Support chat. I bought a new camera. Then, when it didn't work either bought a new transformer. That was a waste of $350+ 😞

Oh yeah:
4. The last thing the Support Documentation tells you to do is to remove the Camera from your app and try to connect it again. Of course, when I tried, I couldn't connect it again because it is dead. So what happens? You try chat and it NEVER sends you to an actual person, nor does it create a FreshDesk ticket (how can they have set it up like this?!) THEN when you go to Twitter they tell you "For future reference, the best way to access Arlo Support Center is to navigate to Settings > Support within the Arlo app for your available Support options" - BUT YOU CAN'T REQUEST SUPPORT UNLESS THE DEVICE IS INSTALLED IN YOUR APP. This is beyond frustrating.

Have you tried contacting support though the Arlo Mobile App by navigating to Settings/System/Support?

As mentioned, the troubleshooting instructions tell you to remove the device from the app and add it again. This is impossible because it can't be detected by the app. And this makes contacting support and possible because you can't contact support unless you have the device installed on your app.
I eventually got hold of support using the chat feature on the website again, for the 5th time, but unfortunately I could not find my receipt to get a replacement.
I bought a new unit purely because I already have the wiring and place and the chime. If anyone from Arlo reads for this, the customer service journey needs review.
Is it happens this is what I do for a job so reach out if you need my services!
And secondly, the only thing I can attribute this device failure to is overheating in the sun. My recommendations are:
1. Better heat protection if possible
2. A review of your customer support journey
3. Change the setup sequence so you can skip the part about using existing wiring.
4. Add a separate button for reconnecting to Wi-Fi.
5. Make the reset button much easier to use. No point having one that you need to use a pin to activate. If a burglar has already removed the unit and has access to this button they also have the ability to rip the wiring off.

UPDATE
Bought an expensive new doorbell after going through ALL the troubleshooting online and by talking to Arlo Support.
It doesn't work. I checked posts here on transformers and see that people are reporting that the transformer blows when the button is pressed.
Why is a replacement transformer not suggested in the troubleshooting journey? ARGH!
I will go and get a new one today and, who knows, maybe I will end up with an expensive, un-needed second camera doorbell. 😐
