No Recording if Smart Notifications is "off"

I've turned "Off" vehicles in Smart Notifications and understood that I would still get recordings, just no notifications which is what I want.  It's not happening, no notifications AND no recordings.  Same thing happens if I turn any or all of them off.  When they are off, I get no notification AND no recording.  Am I misunderstanding something?

Do you mean for those particular objects or simply no recordings at all if any choice is turned off? For the former, that's normal operation. For the latter I guess it could be Smart deciding that the objects weren't of interest so the recordings are discarded. If the doorbell is connected to a base or hub, activate local recordings since even if Smart discards the videos they will still be recorded locally.
