I have the Arlo Wired Video Doorbell (model no. AVD1001B-100NAS).
I do not have a subscription. I have it "armed" so that it detects motion, but all I get is a notification on my phone. Is it possible to capture video (or a screenshot) every time it detects motion, which I could view in the library?
It will capture video when someone presses the button, but not when a motion detection alert is triggered.
Any help would be great.
Thank you.

Arlo sells a couple of SmartHubs which you can find listed at arlo.com or any reseller. These are the VMB4540 and VMB5000 hubs that are supplied with some camera systems that can't connect directly to WiFi. I prefer the 4540 since it uses a USB drive like a thumb drive. I find that much more convenient than the 5000's microSD card.
You would need to remove the doorbell from your account, follow the directions in the app to claim the hub (Ethernet cable to the router plus power) and then connect the doorbell to the hub via the hub's dedicated WiFi. You would then need to go into the hub's settings to activate local recordings.
Once local recordings are working, the library would have a selection at the top to allow you to choose cloud or local recordings. When viewing the local recordings, there's no thumbnail until you download it to the phone so you have to use the timestamps to figure out which video to play.

Without a subscription you need to also have a hub that the doorbell is connected to. The hub provides the port for a USB drive or microSD card for local recordings that you can then use the app to view. It's not the same as cloud recordings but may satisfy your needs.

Thank you for your reply.
I understand the concept, but could you provide more details?
What kind of "hub" would this be? Like an external harddrive? And how is the hub connected to the doorbell? Wirelessly or wired? And is the connection to the external storage managed via the phone app?
Thank you.
