Have successfully installed our new AVD1001 but can not view actual live video or respond to detected movement in real time. It's delayed enough that it can't be used for security. Even if you get a person notification, they've already left and the video clip doesn't arrive for another 3-5 minutes.
Customer service told us to just reset/remove device/reconnect. Did that. No luck.
- We've tried giving the doorbell its own LAN address reservation.
- We're running it on our Orbi Mesh Network, which throws out 5G and 2.4 at the same time.
- Numerous articles have said setting up a separate 2.4G signal doesn't fix the issue.
- The Orbi hub is 20 ft from the doorbell.
- Speed test: 185 upload, 150 download
Anyone else fix a delay issue with the video doorbell who does NOT have the Arlo SmartHub?
TIA

misskay,
A slight delay for the live feed is normal behavior. Video clips won't arrive in the library until the recording is completely finished. Smart analytics also increases this waiting period.
Do you have recordings set to a fixed duration or until activity stops? The longer the duration, the longer it will take for the clip to arrive in the library.

Hi James, thanks for your response. The delay is long enough that we can't effectively speak with people making a video doorbell call, nor respond to anything urgent, so I'd like to see if we can shorten that delay considerably or else return it.
Recent clips range from 14 seconds to 25 seconds, but take 4-5 minutes to be delivered.
And there doesn't seem to be a setting for video length on the app or myarlo.com for the doorbell. Can you direct me to this feature?
I'll try turning off the subscription features (smart analytics.)
Thx

misskay,
Recording length can be adjusted by editing your rules within the activate mode.
See here: How do I adjust Arlo video recording length?

👍 that verified that it's set to only record for the length of the activity, not a set amount.
So that shouldn't be the thing holding it up...
Need more troubleshooting to reduce/eliminate the long delay & be effective security. 🤔
